  • First Detail with My PC!

Just thought that I'd share some photos of my vehicle (Toyota Revo VX200) that I detailed a couple of days ago, Not so satisfied with the outcome I was expecting a little more pop to the paint. Any comments or suggestions are welcome whether good or bad specially from Mike.

I've had the PC for a loooong time now (4years) and only decided to give it a try recently, I'm used to working with a Rotary (detailing on the side with pay) but usually detail my car by hand. Watched Mike's PC DVD a couple of times before going for it. Sorry I don't have before pictures, but it was in pretty good shape before I detailed it. Please understand if I wont be able to reply right away to your questions due to time difference, I live all the way across the pacific.

    My process was
    Wash- GC
Clay- 3M Blue- Car Soap as Lubricant
    #82- PC with a Finishing Pad 9006 1 Pass
    #7- By Hand
Malm's Liquid Wax- Hand 1 Coat
    after 18 hours
Pinnacle Souveran Wax- Hand 1 Coat
    After 36 Hours
    #26- Hand 1 Coat

All my non Meguiar's products were purchased a long time ago (3 yrs) before I became a 100% user, I know it does not make any sense, how can I be a 100% Meguiar's user if I still use those non Meguiar's stuff. Well I'm just using them up I don't want my money to go to waste. All I buy now is Meguiar's.

Please Excuse me for the poor photography.

      Nice Job

Just a quick question I am thinking of using some clay bar soon and wondering if car soap as a lubricant works well seeing as most people on forums I have seen don't usally use car soap and mostly some type of spray.

As you probably know it is a little more difficult getting a lighter color to 'pop', but looks good to me as well!

Some clay bars do not react well with soap. If you use Meg's bar, email them for an answer, or search here for comments.

The only reason I used car soap for this one was because that's what it said on the label of the Clay Bar I used. When it comes to Meguiar's Clay Bars I think they only recommend using a detailer spray like Quick Detailer, Final Inspection or Last Touch. I suggest you just follow the instructions on the label of whatever Clar Bar you plan to use.

                    Hope that helped.

I understand what you are saying I was just hoping that someone might have a suggestion on how to give it just a little more pop. I guess you are right it is really hard to make a light color pop up. I think the only solution for me would be to get a Red or Black car.

                      Thanks for the comment.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.
