Old flame

This past weekend, I detailed my old ride, a 1989 Mustang LX, with a dark red, single stage paint job. It sits outside 24/7, under a tree. It had some oxidization and swirls, but Meg's Medallion Premium Paint Cleaner cleaned it up pretty well (PC, polishing pad).

Here's a pic of half the hood done, half not done.


After doing all of the car, I applied one coat of NXT Tech Wax by hand. I ran out of time to do another coat, maybe later on this week.
On the tires, I used NXT Protectant, and Meg's Gold Class Trim Detailer. For the interior, Meg's #40 Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner.

Great Shine! Its a shame that the crappy 80's trim always goes bad. That car would look halfway decent without those yellow spots. That hood shot is really amazing.

MPPC is one of my favorites. I've used this for years on a ss red paint and love the way it easily, safely and quickly removes oxidation.

You know you can repaint that trim fairly easily. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself take it to Macco. They can make it look like new fairly cheaply.

The paint looks nice, but yeah, you should get that trim repainted and the car would look brand new.

yeah, i should try repainting the trim. i just haven't found the time and money to do it i've been spending too much time with the Mach1! but i read an article in some mustang magazine that repainted the bumper trim, and it doesn't seem too hard, just get the right paints and primer from NAPA or some place similar.
