  • She's back and cleaned up.

I'm fairly new around here, but most of you can relate to not having your car. A teenager side-swiped my new car by changing lanes into my passenger side about 4 weeks ago. After fighting with his insurance company for a couple weeks, it finally went into the body shop for 2 weeks. Well, I got her back last Tuesday and today was the first chance I've had to clean her up and bring her back to her former glory. It was an overcast day so the pics do not show the best reflections, but I got the best I could.

I washed with NXT wash, clayed, washed again with NXT wash, polished with my G100 and mostly M80 with some M83 on the trunk, roof and hood followed with M80. I finished it off with M21 (except on the 3 panels that were repainted) and some NXT metal polish for my rims. I used the new Hot Shine aerosol foam for tire dressing.

Looks great, but shouldn't you have waited a little longer before applying a sealant so as to allow the fresh paint time to cure?

I actually didn't put the 21 on the 3 panels that were freshly painted, but I did the rest of the car with it. I'll seal the 3 repaired panels in about a month.

Sorry to hear about the ordeal you both went thru. Its apparent the patient is well on her way to recovery. Great job. Heres hoping you and the patient have many more years together.

Nice job! When I got something touched up on my car they told me to wait 6 weeks before applying wax to it.

Didn't you recently attend one of the Saturday classes? I remember someone telling me their car was in the shop or going into the shop?

                Either way, results look great!

Thanks Mike, the compliment means a lot coming from you. Yes, I did attend the Saturday class with LXforums on 3/3/07 that you taught. I paid attention.

While you may be a Red Sox fan, I think a plain black license plate frame would be a better look.

Other than that, I think your ride looks beautiful! Nice job.

                        Lookin' good!

If you don't know what paint system the shop used and how long the paint manufacturer recommends waiting to wax it's probably best to wait 120 days.

Da*n Yankees fans are everywhere! Seriously though, thanks for the tip. I actually take that off for shows, but now that I live in California its the one part of Boston I get to see everyday. My Sox pride runs deep. I only put that rear-end shot in because that's the part of my car most people see. She's fast! Most people don't know that my old-man-sedan is really a high 12 second 1/4 mile car too.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I finally got around to doing the engine compartment late last week. We actually had rain in So Cal which threw off my schedule. Here is my HEMI:
