  • 2007 Holden Commodore SS

Here's some pictures of the VE SS I picked up two weeks ago. Some of the pictures are less good because the editing software I used to smudge the rego number seems to cut down on file size by default, so apologies.

Car was built on 13 Feb and I took delivery on 26 Feb, and the pics are after initial preparation with Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner, and then three coats of Tech Wax applied over a week and a half (one after every wash).

The colour is called Ignition Metallic, which is basically a dark/burnt orange with gold metallic flakes. It looks super-orange in bright sunlight and closer to orange-red around sunset.

I'm sitting here seriously drooling - I ordered a black one last weekend and should pick it up next week.

6 Litres of V8 goodness....does it get any better?!!!

        Re: 2007 Holden Commodore SS

When I first saw the pictures, I almost thought the G8 got to the states early! That looks exactly like the car that was on the front cover of Motor Trend a few months ago when they had an article about the G8.

I like Holdens/GTOs so much that I'm on my second one! I've got the two door US version. Very good workmanship and 400 HP/400 lb-ft. for a reasonable price. Mine is Impulse Blue.

That's a sharp looking car. I don't know much about the Commodore. Is she fast? As a side note, pretty looking country in the background.

To give you an idea, for the GTO, it's 0-60 time is 4.6 seconds and the quarter mile 13.0 seconds for the A4. Fast enough for me!

Nice looking car! I think they should start shipping those things over here.

Ah yeah, you've got the Monaro/GTO? Very nice, I wanted one of those for years but realistically needed a four door so the SS was the go.

0-100km/h (62mph-ish) in the low to mid 5 second bracket and the standing quarter in 13.9 seconds I think - I don't have a magazine handy at the moment. Certainly feels very quick to drive, loads of power everywhere (as you'd expect from a 6 litre V8).

The Pontiac G8 GT will be basically the same car with more luxury gear, so keep your eyes peeled

The G8 is supposed to be here in early '08. It will have about 362 HP and they are estimating 0-60 times in the low 5 second range, so that would be similar to what my '04 could do. Torque will be in the 395 lb.-ft. range so it should pull great from a stop.

That commodore ss looks fast standing still. Good looking car and a very good job on the detail.

I love those cars, beautiful. Can't wait for the G8! Check it out. As of right now reports show that we are not getting the awd model.

Glad to hear she's a beast - seriously looking forward to getting it.

I'll do my best to do the conversions for you guys - maybe someone could check them?
Motor Magazine here in Oz ran a 0-100km/h (0 - 62 mph?) in 5.2seconds and did a standing quarter mile in 13.4!!
Stock standard, straight off the showroom floor....staggering...
                              She has the 6 litre, OHV, 16 valve alloy Gen IV V8 ( I think they've called it the L98??), making 270kw (362hp) and 530Nm (390lb-ft)
Price is A$45,000 and tonight the conversion against the US dollar was around $0.76, making it approximately US$34,000 - how would that compare to what is on the market over there currently, because it's taken ours by storm!!

As I said mine is black, so I'll be sure that the first ever pic-post I do is of my new baby when she arrives
