Let me make sure I understand correctly....you buffed the car with a rotary and then with the DA and did it in 3 hours......you've got to let me know your secret.

LOL, I didn't realize this was that fast?

Plus I washed it, cleaned the interior, vacummed the interior, buffed it with the rotary, PCed it, and waxed it. Polished and cleaned the rims and exhaust too...

I didn't have to clay it though, which would have added atleast a half an hour.

In total, I would say it was about 3 1/2 hours....

Awesome job!!

3 hours?? By 3 hours, I would be done washing, drying, and masking off my truck. Ok maybe I'd be a little farther a long than that, but 3 hours is very quick, IMO and IME.

When I first started, this detail would have easily taken me 6-7 hours, but now I am getting it down to a science, I suppose. Now I am a master of organization, as I find looking for products and walking away from your project to get something else takes the most time.

Also, multitasking is a must!

Some time saving tips I use are...

I don't tape anything, expect the base of convertiable tops. If you keep your pads clean, it just takes a little practice to reduce your compound splatter to nearly nothing. Also I buff several panels at a time before removing the brokendown polish. By rotary, I am able to get half a car buffed before I have to remove the polish, and as such, it only takes my 20-40 minutes to buff an entire car. If the polish starts to dry on the surface, take a little #34 on a microfiber and it will come right off.

When its time to go to PC, I again buff about 2 panels before removing anything. I work about 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 foot section (which gets slighly larger as I go). I use slightly overlapping sections until I cover the whole car. Again, by PC it only takes me 30-60 minutes to finish an entire car before quickly removing the polish residue with a microfiber and #34.

After I apply the LSP, I tackle windows, exhaust, trim, tires, wheelwells ect while it cures. Those should take no longer then 15 minutes, so by the time I am finishing the outside details, the sealent/wax is settled, so I remove it.

I take no breaks and make no wasted movements (except taking pictures, which is why I don't do it as much, takes too much time!!!!).

We would agree with this statement, that is doing everything you can to always work clean. This would include either cleaning your pad often, of swapping out the used pad for a fresh dry pad, doesn't have to be a fresh new pad, just fresh dry pad that is clean. If you own a rotary buffer then you already know how fast and easy it is to clean dry pads for use using a nylon brush against a spinning dry dirty pad. The nylon bristles will quickly and and efficiently remove any previous product build-up of the surface of the pad.

Clean pads buff better. Period, end of discussion.

Most people run into problems by either not cleaning their pads often enough, (the most common pad buffing problem), and this applies to working by DAP or RB.

After detailing my first vette I now know first hand what it takes. It took me almost 9 hrs to detail the exterior, wipe down & vacuum the interior. So you certainly finished this one up pretty quick. Great job looks awesome!

That's the same style vette I want. Z06 is a little too much money for me.

Wow I would love to do that!! I didn't even notice you said that until I looked through the threads I had replied to to try to find a thread. It's about a 3 hour drive one way. When is this detail coming up? Or is it already over...I can't believe I didn't notice this reply before.
