This car belongs to one of my favorite customers. The goal was to create a 95 percent defect free finish that was deep and liquid in appearence. Because the Corvette's clear coat is so hard, its rather frustrating and almost impossible to achieve a perfect finish, and definetly not worth it on a driven late mode Vette.
The paint had minor to moderate water etching and a light of light swirl marks, which gave the Corvette a slightly pinkish appearence from afar.
I started by washing the car with a two bucket method using Meguiars' NXT Carsoap and a Meg's lambswool mitt. Even though I was at a customers' house, he has a high quality watersoftner. The finish has several layers of #16 on it before, and the combiniation of the soft water, the slickness of #16, and lubricity of NXT wash made this car a pleasure to wash. The tempature was in the low 60s and the sun was beaming down. It doesn't get much better then this for a detailer.
Here is the car right before washing, as I said this is a customers car so the it well maintained.

As always I start by washing the rims. I sprayed Meguiars' All Wheel Cleaner on and let it dwell for about 15 seconds before lightly aggitating the surface with a paint brush..

After washing, rinsing and blotting dry with an ABSORBER, I pulled it into the garage to and inspected the paint.
There was moderate swirling and you can see the reflection of the shieldling around the garge light isn't very defined.

I made one pass with my Hitachi Rotary at 1500 rpm with Meguiars' #83 DAC/P polish on a Meguiars' 8006 polishing pad.
The results where stunning, the reflection crisp and the paint dark...

I made one pass around the whole car then pulled my work out to inspect it in the light. I had slight (SLIGHT!) hologramming. I tried to caputre some of it in the pics but it very hard to capture as it was only visible from wierd angles and very very light (nobody would have noticed but me, more then likely).
Anyways the best pictures I have of the hologramming...

I figured it was so light that Meguiars #80 with a PC could probably remove it. I polished the door on speed five with the PC/80/8006 combo and rechecked my work. Hologram free (and now 95 perfect defect free)!

So it was on to the rest of the Corvette, making one pass with #80 and the PC.
The weather was perfect so I elected enjoy some time outside...

With the body up to standards, it was time to select and LSP. For deeping and darking the paint and making it liquid wet its hard to beat Meg's #26. I usually use #16 on this paint for the durablity it provides, but considering that owner wants me to apply an LSP every 4-6 weeks, I figure I would sacrafice some durablity. Considering that #80 features the same oils as #7, its hard to beat the #7/#26 look on red.

I also applied #21 to the rims...

The interior was in great shape to begin so I just did a quick wipe down with Meguiars Quik Interior detailer and vacummed the carpet. The windows got cleaned with Megs' NXT Window cleaner.
I polished the exhaust with NXT All Metal Polysh and a terry cloth, I left the inside pipe on the rightside unpolished in this photo so you could see a before and after...

Finally I dressed the tires with Meguiars' Hotshine spray and a foat applicator
