  • I thought I have done a great job...not till I see this

Okay, this is my first show off post. I haven't quite documented everything from start to finish but here's few pics of what I have achieved. I'll do better next time.

This car is Toyota Avanza late 2004 and was in bad condition, severe swirl but not deep swirl, easy to remove. The owner neglected. I noticed the car was washed in terrible water, it left with yellow residues. I couldn't remove the yellow residues on emblem.

I thought I have done a great job removing the severe swirl but I was wrong. I had the car washed to remove the compounds residues but somehow is it possible that new swirls were made? or I haven't done the job removing the swirl 100%. My mistake was I didn't check the paint under direct sunlight to see if the swirls were totally gone. It was hard to get direct sunlight on moonsoon season, it's raining everyday. Eventually I got the chance but maybe it was too late. I will redo the job a bit, I love 100% swirl free paint.

Here's the test spot, Thanks for the PC DVD how to, I could actually do this. Test spot steps:
    #80-8000 3 passes using rotary
    NXT 1 coat

Dead tree reflection with slight swirl....*sobs*

    The actual steps were
Wash with Mirror glaze shampoo & conditioner
    Clay
    #85 - 4000 with rotary - 1 pass only on top part
    #83 - 7000 with rotary - 2 passes
    #80 - 8000 with rotary - 2 passes
    #80 - 9000 with rotary - 1 pass
    NXT wax
GC trim detailer on black trim
    ASD on tires
    Glass cleaner concentrate

I noticed #26 gives a smoother feel than NXT wax, I couldn't tell the difference which product gives deeper and glossier look. Both are great IMO.
