I've got a neighbor who walks two very playful St. Bernard dogs by my house everyday, and one day she told me about this truck that she had been restoring and wanted to know if I would work on it.
I used Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash Soap and CR Spotless Water System for DI water. Also used my Makita RB and PC Polisher. LSP was M21. The paint was a multistage basecoat/clearcoat system with lots of issues!

Haha, this was when the owner left--notice it's dark outside. Ok, lets find a better pic that shows the truck.

Ok, time to get serious, here it is all finished and waxed. Can you tell the difference? Hmm lets take an even closer look.

I washed the truck using my DI water system and Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash.

This cover will look way better with some Hyper Dressing!

See that triangle above the front right fender?? That happened after they painted the door!

That dark spot on the door isn't your eyes playing tricks on you. When this car was in the shop for repair, the shop banged the door against something causing paint damage, so the shop repainted it!

Rear Tire condition (HD will be used here later)

Front Tire condition (HD will be used here later)

Look at how the shop who painted the truck didn't even bother to remove simple things! What a shame.

Look at the bonded contaminants! It looks and feels like rusted metal shavings!

I don't think I could have removed the bonded contaminants without red clay. Even with the aggressive stuff, I still spent 6 hours just claying the truck!

Red clay was very effective but look what it did to the paint finish! Fortunately I did a small spot and knew that while it was going to swirl the paint, it was going to get the job done, and some light rotary work would restore the paint.

This truck was in serious need of claybar! I decided to reserve the red clay only on the hood area with the worst defects, and using mild clay everywhere else.

Can you see the triangular area of overspray??? RB and 84 removed this as claybar wasn't effective at all.

I compounded the finish using my Makita rotary buffer, W7006 Cutting Pad, and M84. After taking this pic, I noticed that the paint around the logos needed more work, so I did rotary and PC again as well as finished using various metal polishes to restore the emblems.

No wax, just polish

No wax, just polish. Still no tire dressing. Was pressed for time, and just wanted to see finish with polish under the sun.

No wax, just polish. Can see that surface is pitted although I did my best to remove all surface defects.

As usual, I had a great time working on this truck. The finish wasn't perfect in the end, but it was far better than when I first acquired it and best of all the customer was super pleased. And I hope so, cause I'll see her every day!
