  • Goodbye 20's... Hello Mini Van!

Well, the time has come to upsize my family's main mode of transportation. My wife has been driving an 04 Corolla-S since 2003, and with our 2 growing boys (ages 1 and 2), that little car kept feeling smaller and smaller.

We looked at the Sienna, the Odyssey, and the Quest. I really wanted to go with the Sienna (being a Toyota guy, after all), but couldn't beat the features (dvd, alloys, dark paint, bells-and-whistles in general) of the Nissan Quest.

It was delivered complete with the DISO (I was there when they removed the white factory plastic), so I have my work cut out for me. But at least for the time being, I went with a single coat of Tech Wax.

    Here are a couple pics:

Yeah, I know... boring old Mini-Van.. but hey, you don't see many with Dark Blue paint... and the dealer had to go all the way up to Compton to get the one I really wanted so at least we got what we wanted.

No mini van for me , no thanks.

Here is my answer to our transportation problems if we are blessed with a 2nd child.

I would up-grade it with DVD flip down screen, sounds, EFI, dissc brakes and a modern 4 speed automatic over drive trans

funny, we are in the market too. My problem with the Nissan is the need for premium fuel.

I don't know where you're getting your info... but it states very clearly in the owner's manual that 87 is all that's required. Remember, the engine may be the same one from the 350z, Murano, Altima, etc... but each vehicle receives a different tune. 8-)

            Brian,
I stand corrected. Thank you for the heads up.

You know what... you're partially correct. After reading your statements I started Googling, and on Nissan's own web site it claims:

<<<1 Use regular unleaded fuel with 87 octane. For maximum power, use premium fuel.>>>

So there you have it... to get maximum power, 91 is needed... but 87 will work too.

That's a nice van. I recently was faced with the "what if we have baby dilema(not pregnant, just what if)" Here's my answer for a growing family.

                To this

My wife actually cried when we left the dealer. The S10 was the first thing we bought new after we got married, and she said it was like a family member.

Hehe, just wait until your baby starts kicking the back of your seat... then along comes baby #2... Then you think you're going to have twins... you're starting to get the idea. 8-)

I'm not too worried about that. We have another vehicle. I'm just thinking when we have to drive mine. My wife has a four door sedan, and I'm trying to convince her that when it's wore out, she needs a Suburban.
