An early start for me today, 6am, to travel down to Ayr to detail a lovely Porsche. Bryan unfortunately was at work today, so only one half of the Krankies was on this detail...

Arrived in Ayr nice and early, the weather was looking good and the new sat nav I bought for the car (TomTom 501) took me right to the owner's door without one wrong turn!!

The car was washed with Meguiars Hyper Wash and clayed with Meguiars Mirror Glaze Mild blue clay. Arches were done with Meguiars APC diluted 4:1 and wheels with Chemical Guys Blue rim cleaner. With the paintwork cleaned and prepared for polishing, it was out with the Brinkman to examine the paintwork:

Mild swirling was visible in the paintwork, but nothing severe - this car was abviously well cared for. Owing to the prescence of just mild swirling, I chose to go for Menzerna Final Finish PO106FF applied by Makita rotary using a Meguiars W8006 polishing pad. Product was spread at 600rpm, two passes at 900rpm, then eight to ten passes at 1500rpm to thoroughly work the polish followed by two passes at 900rpm to refine the finish. The results of the polishing stages:

With the finish prepared nicely by the pro Menzerna polish, it was time for the beauty treatment of the paint - and the choice of products was Zymol. First up, HD Cleanse - applied with firm pressure in straight lines using a Meguiars foam applicator pad and then followed with Destiny applied by my own fair hands.

Wheels were waxed with Smartwax Rim Wax, tyres with Endurace, glass with NXT Glass Cleaner, trim with #38. Tail pipes with Mothers.

Alas - the Scottish weather put paid to any outside completed shots on this detail, so only completed shots in the garage I'm afraid:

The owner will be taking more pics of the car when its dry and sunny and emailing them to me, so watch this space for better completed pics of the car. :thumb:

All in all, despite the weather not playing ball, I had an excellent day and really enjoyed the detail. :thumb:
