  • Birthday present

This past weekend we had a birthday party for my sister. She turned 50. My wife and I left Asheville around 4 on Friday heading to Moorsville, about a 2 hr trip, along the way we talked about what we wanted to give her for a present. Since I started doing detailing my wife has been very supportive so she says "Why don't you detail your sisters car for her birthday" so I agreed. I told her it had to be a combined gift so she would have to do the interior. (notice how I got out of that one). She said ok. So Sat. morning I got a early start, around 6. I washed with NXT Wash Strips and a mit. I clayed with some Mothers, I just got some Meguiars but wanted to use up the Mothers. Then I got to use my new PC, new pads, and 83. Oh, she has a 94 Geo Prizm, 115,000 miles, been waxed twice. Dog hairs, and stains, and dust inside. The hubcaps were so bad had to throw them away, bought some new ones at Autozone. Anyway after the 83, used #9 swirl remover, and then #7 show car glaze, then NXT Wax. On the inside, vacuumed and cleaned carpet, wiped down and used NXT Tech, turned out awesome. Here are the pictures.

and the outside with new hubcaps,

That's how we ended the day, my sister was amazed at how her car looked and we headed home to Asheville. A couple hours later she calls to see if we made it home ok. She tells me she had the shiniest, care in the wreck. I said what

It seems that she went out and at a light to get on I77 a guy in a SUV realized he was in the wrong lane, backed up and hit her head on. I guess the moral is "no good deed goes unpunished".

That's how my weekend went, hope yours was better.

    hey Mark,
its cheating when you buy new hupcaps without trying to clean them first.
sorry to hear you hard work get wasted like that, but as long as your sisters ok, thats what counts. The clown in the suv can replace the other stuff!
    how'd you like the pc?
you don't think maybe you shined that car up so much that the guy was blinded by the glare? better delete that before a lawer sees it.
    looked great for awhile anyway!

On the contrary Mark, your sisters car just went up in value after the detail...That might mean something when it comes time to settle up with the insurance company.

        The car looks great BTW!

            **UPDATE**

Talked to my sister again. She said the car is drivable and the insurance is going to put a new front end on it and paint it. Before the hood really had alot of dings from gravel bouncing of the hood. I have a picture you can see them but I'm not at home to load it. So I guess its not to bad a thing after all. All new parts on the front end, new paint. Everything happens for a reason I guess.
Thanks for all the . My second car not counting my own. I'm ready to go back and start on mine now. The others are starting to look better than mine.
            Thanks again.

              Hey Mark,

The car looked great after your detail work!

As for the accident afterwards, well as long as the sister was not hurt. A car can be replaced, a loved-one can not.
