Thanks to everyone for the kind words! My neighbor who's truck this is also has a 76 Vette we did a couple of weeks about the same color, I will upload some pics of it when I get the time. He helped out on both as he's as particular about his vehicles as I am and he like learning this stuff...
My method on the truck was:
Wash
Clay just the horizontal surfaces, he keeps in the the garage, so it wasn't that dirty
Taped off the trim
Back Quarter on the bed had buffer holograms, after checking it with the paint thickness gauge, it read around 10 microns, and the rest of the vehicle was around 4, so I could tell it had been painted and buffed. On this area after working up to this combo due to not being able to remove the swirls, we had to use a maroon cutting pad on the rotary at 1500 rpms using 84 and it took a couple of passes. We followed that with the rotary and a polishing pad with Optimum Hyper Compound at around 1200 rpms, and I went around the entire vehicle with this combo and it finished out very nice. He followed behind me with the PC and a polishing pad using Optimum Polish.
the LSP was NXT liquid applied with the PC and a finishing pad.
AIO on the glass
NXT all metal polish on the wheels
Endurance on the tires
Hyper Dressing in the wheel wells
