  • At it again...(56k beware)

    Well,

I was at it again this past weekend with my G100. I promised to detail my sisters 97' Ford Taurus a few years ago and finally got around to it. It took me about a day and a half for washing, claying, taping, polishing, waxing and trim detailing. I didn't get a decent "before" picture since the car was just sprayed down before the washing and it was under a nice big tree.

The car had it's usual "daily college driver" dents, dings and scratches, but I was going to tackle most of the scratches. Given the fact the car hasn't been waxed (I was the last one to wax it ) in about six years, the paint was in pretty good shape. Here are the before and after pictures.

    What I used:

    DC Wash
#39 on all exterior rubber and vinyl
Castrol Degreaser for road tar and tire cleaning
    Clay bar w/ QD
    #80 w/ G100 on most panels
#83 w/ G100 on scratches and really bad panels
1-coat of NXT Tech wax (liquid) w/ G100
Removed NXT w/ MF bonnet on W7006 on G100
GC Trim Detailer on all exterior rubber and vinyl
PlastX on headlights, taillights and corner lights
Meguiar's Detailer Line glass cleaner (this stuff is awsome)
Endurance High Gloss tire gel on tires

    Before

    After

Here is my sister posing proud with her freshly cleaned car. She was really surprised how reflective it came out. She is going to get some NXT Speed Detailer and a MF towel for her trunk to keep it that way. All in all, I think I had over 14 hours in the detail, but it was all worth it, I only have one sister.

Looks like you are getting better and better...

In your product list, I notice you listed #83 second... I asume you used it first...

I used #80 for 90% of the polishing and used #83 for the tough spots. The rear bumper areas and mirrors needed something a little more aggressive to get the paint scratches out. I would have liked to use #83 over the whole car, but I only have a 12oz. sample and was starting run really low.
