....washing her car.
So, we arranged a little barter agreement. She does a good deal of my yardwork and I detail her car. In this case, the car is a 2006 Chrysler 300 Touring Signature Series. It's just 5 months old but is parked outside and not covered. It looks decent enough, just needed a quick cleaning.
My process:
- Wash with Gold Class
- Clay (most time I've ever spent claying a car - if you can avoid parking outside all the time, I strongly suggest it!!)
- ScratchX by hand for a couple of isolated scratches
- M80 with W8006 Polishing Pad on the PC (three passes for the long scratch on the fender shown below)
- M20 Polymer Sealant on a W7006 Finishing Pad, again via PC
- Interior cleaned with M39, dressed with M40
- Leather seating cleaned/dressed with Gold Class aloe twins (no interior pix, sorry - really nice two tone leather though, you should see it!!
)
- Tires dressed with NXT Insane Shine
- Wheel wells dressed with *cough* Armor All
When everything was said and done, tools put away, etc, 7 hours had passed.
Before doing anything: Not so bad, huh?

Well I washed and dried it, and in the process of drying it felt like my waffle weave towels were being dragged over sandpaper. Obviously clay was needed, but a quick inspection showed me this two foot long scratch on the left front fender:

There were other, smaller scratches at both rear door handles and on the top of the left rear fender as well. No pix, but ScratchX got rid of the ones at the door handles, polishing took out the rest.
I'm not even sure which claybar this is as some friends left it behind after working on another car a few months ago, but whatever it is, it sure got dirty from this 300! Heck, this is from just a 2'x2' area on the hood!!!

7 hours later and the scraches are gone, everything is clean and shiny, and my neighbor is just thrilled!! She said it looks much nicer than the day she picked it up. Niiiice!!
