  • Black H3

The owner had recently taken his H3 off roading and the results were large scratches running along the sides, over the hood and roof and the tail lights. The paint on this truck was hard, because even though I couldn't catch the scratches with my nail, it took 3 passes with the Hitachi at 1500 RPM using #84/9006 to get them out. Sorry for the lack of pictures, but the owner lived 1 1/2 hours away, so by the time I was done, I just wanted to get out of there.

    Process....

Wash using Blue Coral Car Soap (I picked up at the store, I forgot my soap this morning when leaving at 5:00 AM)

Clay with Mild Detailers clay using soap as lube

3 passes of Meguiars #84 on the Hitachi @1500 RPM/ cutting pad over the scratched areas..

2 passes of Meguiars #83 DACP on the Hitachi @1500 RPM/ 8006 over the enitre truck (man that roof is huge!)

1 pass of Meguiars #83 DACP via PC/8006

1 pass of Meguiars #66 Quik Detailer via PC/8006

2 coats of Meguiars #21 Synthetic Sealent via hand.

Wheel wheels, tires, and suspension where cleaned using 4:1 APC

Wheels polished using DACP via hand, then recieved 1 coat of #21

    Tires dressed with HotShine....

Exterior Trim dressed with Meguiars Exterior Trim Detailer

Wheelwheels, frame, and suspension components dressed with Hyperdressing, cut 3:1

Tail lights where wetsanded with 2000grit, polished with 1 pass of #84/cutting pad/1500 rpm, 1 pass of DACP/8006/1000 RPM, 1 pass of PlastiX via PC/8006

Total time was 9 hours.... I was working fast.

Again sorry for the lack of good pictures...

So of the scratches from the offroading (tree branches drug over the sides, hood, and roof)

After area of the above pic in sunlight. The sun kind of washed out the picture, but you can still see it is swirl and scratch free

Nice work! Looks great! The tail lights must have really been scratched for you to wetsand them. I've never really thought wetsanding plastic was a good idea, but I guess it makes sense if you have the proper products to buff them out with. I have some nasty tail lights I may have to try that on.

You got a lot done in 9 hours. Wow.

Looks like the owner was very happy.

          Great work!

That had to be a tough vehicle to buff.....lots of corners and small areas.

Wow, that is alot of passes! You went over the entire paint surface 9 times polishing and waxing, not including claying or removal of products. Quite amazing to do all that in 9 hours!

Look so good now, I wonder if he has the heart to take it offroading again..

                            Thanks for all the compliments....

I only went over the rough areas with #84/7006, but I did do the entire truck with #83 several times. So it was 7 passes on some areas. Yes I was moving very fast!!!

As far as him taking it off road again, he told he was planning on it, and asked if I would mind buffing it out again.
