  • I did it! 6 hours and sore muscles later....

    Hi Folks,

I wanted to thank everyone for all the posts I've been reading for several weeks now. They gave me the info and products I needed for my first detail job.

I have a 2006 Mustang in Redfire Metallic. I've always driven a junker, crummy car so I've never bothered to wash them frequently and have never waxed or used any other products on any car I've ever had. So my experience level was a big "0" when I started this detail job. I wanted to post pics so others with no experience will know that they can get great results if they're willing to spend several hours and at least $100.

Here are the details of my detail:

I got up at 7:00 am and took two hours to detail the interior. Then hubby got up to help me with the rest. (I had posted in a other thread about how hubby thought I was insane for wanting to do this. Perhaps he felt sorry for me and all the work I was in for....)

We washed with Meg's Gold Class. Then we clayed. Neither of us had ever clayed before. It was amazing how smooth the car was!!!! I thought other folks were just blowing smoke up my skirt when they say "how great it is"... but it is!

Then we went to work on a big scratch in the hood with Scratch X. I have before and after photos here. Keep in mind this is a first timer working by hand! Not bad!

I decided to skip the Meg's paint cleaning step even though I had bought the paint cleaner (DC1)

We polished. DC2. I was starting to get sore and hot but the car was looking good so we kept going.

Lastly we waxed with Meg's Gold class wax and dressed the tires with Gold Class Endurance.

WOW! She's just beautiful! Thanks again for everyone's help. (I hope I did the pictures right. If not, they're in my gallery.)

    No Ring

    Ring!

I like how you got married while removing the scrach. Just kidding!

I Love how the paint looks wet and deep. Great job.
You left out licking the water off. Oh, wait a minute, that's my cat, not my car. Uh, I mean my cat licks himself dry. I don't lick my cat dry. Or my car. -PC.

LOL..... I guess I must have forgotten to put my wedding ring on the day I took the before photo. About a week elapsed between the two.

Thanks for the comments. Makes all that hard work worthwhile. (And the lovely, shiny ride!)

Awsome! Love that color. Actually, taking rings off is a good idea. They can inflict nasty scratches......belt buckles too!

Looks great! Very nice work... I have used clay many times and each time I am amazed at how well it works.

Sweet car. Great work. It can look like that most of the time. The comments will not stop if it stays clean.
