  • Scion TC - Who needs the dealers sealant?

Well I finally had a chance to detail my girlfriends new 2007 Scion, some may remember this thread: Dealer Sealant - $825 - Ahhh! - Sure I didn't do the undercoating or the interior protectant but it looks great and the only cost was the Quik Clay and a couple ounces of #80 and #21.

    Here is the process:
    1.NXT Generation Car Wash
    2.Quik Clay System
    3.NXT Generation Car Wash
4.#80 Speed Glaze - Applied with a PC
    5. #21 Synthetic Sealant - applied and removed with a PC (2 coats)

I completed the car late at night so the photos I took after the detail were very poor. Here is the end results, this is a few days later after one wash.

    After

Its hard to see in the photos but the metallic really 'pop', much more than prior to #80 and #21.

That Scion looks good! I love mine, and the best part is, because the roof is glass, its that much easier to detail!

    Good job.

      Looks good!

I just went all out on my '05 tC a few weeks ago.

Now, on to removing that dealer advertising badge underneath the tC emblem!

Consider removing the 'tC' badge as well. I did and it looks clean!

Very quick and easy to detail, no roof to polish/wax and for the most part the body panels are flat.

How hard is it to remove that Dealer badge on the back of the car?

I'm really glad Dealers don't do that in Southern California... most just use a license plate frame that can be easily removed!

I'd say its probably the easiest car I've ever detailed.

I'm sure its just double sided sticky tape like most badging. A little heat to loosen the residue and then some elbow grease will get it off. Afterwards just clean off any remaining residue with a paint cleaner and rewax that area and its done.

                They are easy to remove....

Last two vehicles I bought I requested the dealer not to place their decal on my vehicle.

Hey, I just noticed you're from Des Moines, IA. My family just had a large reunion not too far from there in a town called Gilbertville. I was last there 3 years ago... hot and sticky, oh and the bugs were everywhere too. Fun.

Yes the summer can get hot and very sticky, humidity is usually quite high in the summer. Perfect conditions for those pesky bugs! Not perfect for people!

I Map Quested Gilbertville, near Cedar Falls/Waterloo, never been there.

You can remove the dealer badge in about 15 seconds with no heat.
Take a piece of dental floss, slip it behind the badge and move the floss up and down as you are pulling it between the badge and the car.
Presto, it comes off like butter.

Hey great job on that detail! Im sure it looks better than what the dealer can do. Question...what kind of tire shine did you use?
