Hi!
Very new to this forum...
I first want to thank the one that wrote the tutorial on Scratch-X. I ran to buy some and to properly apply it and the tutorial helped me a lot since the instructions on the tube aren't very clear.
I don't have any before pictures because I was to excited to remove the big scratches from a bird dropping. I work in a building where there are 4 restaurants and yesterday parking was full so I parked next to the building where the ventilation system exhaust is. When I got back in the car after work I had at least 8 fresh droppings. When I got home I run water on the hood and wipe the droppings but one of them had a tiny rock in it and I rub it because there was some white stuff still on the hood (very very bad idea) resulting several small width scratches on 2 inches wide and 3 inches long. I felt so dumb after. Scratching my 2weeks old brand new car by doing this huge mistake. Only if it was the only scratches on teh car...NO!!!
2 days ago I got my car almost stolen. They got into the car. Look for something in the dash and thrown all the stuff out. iTrip stolen, coin box (8 dollars) untouched. They picklocked or use a steel band to unlock the door and for some unknown reason the alarm didn't triggered (alarm was checked and everything was working).
Well they made scratches around the lock and over the door handle. =>(First picture) They dust the car for fingerprints =>(second picture) and ask for my prints as well to compare since it's my car. I told them they don't need it because I would never put my hand on the door (I always close the door by a little part of trimming that's longer than the door, I always unlock the door with the remote and I open the door with one finger making sure I do not touch the door) So they manage to get one full fingerprint.
Sooooooo....back to the Scratch-X story. I put about a nickel of Scratch-X on the scratch and polish it with a little passion but big love with a terry cloth. When it got too sticky and dry I removed it with another terry cloth and look for improvement. I did this 3 times before seeing improvement and a total of 5 times and the scratch was totally gone! The last time I looked for improvements I wasn't able to see where the scratch was!! I wash and dry the area and look for any differences between the treated part and the rest of the hood and NOTHING! It's like the scratch never exists!
I tried to take pictures after but this "Pearl" paint is like a mirror. Any tips how to take close-up pictures? If I can I'm gonna put pictures of the after (you won't see nothing but eh) and polish above the handle and take pictures.
