  • My newly acquired GOAT (tons o' pics)

I've had my new baby for about 3 weeks before I could get to detailing, but man did it turn out well. I'm used to results on a black truck, but I wasn't sure how silver metallic would turn out.... well it turned out great! now I just need to touch up and wetsand all the rock chips in the front of the car that the previous owner left for me.

My process was typical: wash, clay, DC 1, #83 with foam cutting pad, then #9 by hand and then NXT to top it.

    And now, the pictures.....

                  Hey Xtreme99_s-Dime,

I noticed your description says you are from Troy, MI, but your license plate is from Missouri...do you live in Troy, MO by chance??

Great ride! And where else can you get 350-400 HP for low 30s to upper 20s? I have an '04 in Impulse Blue and am very happy with it! Best of both worlds. Rides like a Cadillac (relative to my previous TA) with the power of a TA!

NXT is a very good choice for silver. That color won't show dust as much either.

Now get some Insane Shine on those tires and you'll be all set:

Enjoy and your Goat. I know you will!

The "where I'm from" discussion is kind of a long story, but in short, I'm from St. Louis, MO but I go to College at Kettering University in Flint, MI. As part of the Kettering program, I'm at school for 3 months, and then go to an intern job with an engineering company.

So as of now, I am living in Troy, MI and working at Borg Warner in Auburn Hills, MI. I'll be back in St. Louis for 3 weeks before July 7th, at which time I'll be in Flint for school for 3 months.

                      Kinda crazy.

I'm actually going to get the Goat re-painted soon. I recently became discusted with the amount of rock chips that the car was picking up because the factory paint is so thin and the clear is rediculously hard. I tried to touch up and wet-sand the chips, but it ended in disaster...me going through the clear.

I'm getting it re-painted for a great price by a friend's dad who paints show cars/motorcycles. He's going to re-spray the whole car, and wetsand it for me, so I can have the perfect finish that I've always dreamed of.....Which I had on my old Black S-10 Xtreme. Hence my user-name.

Thanks all for the great comments on my car. I get people talking to me about it at random all the time because it really stands out (even with some sanding marks in it).

                          Hi all,

I just traded my '04 on an '06. I got a good deal, and I wanted the 400HP, the hood scoops, and the split exhaust setup. The bigger brakes are a nice bonus too!

I had a lot of rock chips on my '04 hood. The hood had been repainted before I bought it and the paint is very soft. They did do a nice job of matching the color though. The fibeglass hood with the scoops doesn't slope downward as much so maybe I will be less prone to rock chips.

I'm curious to see if either of your hoods had been repainted. Check for excess paint buildup around the windshield washer nozzles.

The Goats are great cars regardless of the year. They have been criticized for being plain looking, but those are the same people who have criticized other Pontiacs for excessive body cladding and other aggressive styling features. They need to make up their mind. And where else can you get 350-400 HP factory stock, for around $30K?

BTW, I liked Impulse Blue so much my '06 is the same color.
