  • Mercedes SL600 Gets Detailed.

This is a very nice SL600 about to be brought back to show room condition. Here is a shot of the boot before washing. A slight bit of swirl action.

A shot of the hood. Same slight swirl action.

Another angle of the hood gives you holograms.

A side shot shows the swirls.

A shot of the fenders needing much attention.

Here are the afters from being cleaned up.

    Application of the final coat.

The removal of the final coat reveals itself.

    After removing from the side.

    Take a look from outside.

    A side outside.

    The boot outside.

    An overall shot.

    Renntech.

Another overall from a different angle.

    Another side shot outside.

    Awesome work!

I'm curious, what was your process? Mainly, did you use a rotary or a PC? I need to do my dad's '05 SL500. It isn't as swirled as that, but I'm wondering how hard the paint is, I'm worried that a PC isn't going to cut it, but I have a hard time taking a rotary to such an expensive car...

I took a PC to this car with a polishing pad and some 80. I finished off the car with a top coat of 21 with a polishing pad. Its the Murcielago, Ferrari Challenge Straddle, and ford Gt that i wouldnt take the PC to as of yet. Everything is still hand done with those. Ive even taken a PC to my buddys brand new $75K M3 in my other post (the 06 m3 competition).

            WOW

Again - love the garage. What kind of lift do you use in the house garage?

what do you use by hand if it's not on pc? #80 and #21?

            looks awesome!

The Lambo, Gt, and Ferrari are practically brand new. They do not need anything except a mist wash and a coat of 21 to seal it. The SL600 is an 04 and the M5 is an 03. Those i have done everything to. Wash, Glaze, Polish, and Wax/Seal with a PC.

Awesome Benz!!! And its a RENNtech!!!

What's the top end? HP? TQ?

Is the clearcoat hard on it? The #80 sure did a great job on those swirls! This is a great example of what #21 can do. If I had not read the posts I would have sworn you used NXT Paste on it.

                    RamAir,

Watch the typical silvery cleanliness which is so characteristic of #21! It is noticeable especially on the last picture, around the sun reflection. This makes #21 so distinguishable!

NXT paste looks more neutrally clear, without this 'silvery cleanliness'.

Good point! My favorite process is to top #21 with NXT Paste. I got the idea from Tim. Best of both worlds.
