  • Wife's 84 Rendezvous

The wife has a new to us 84 Buick Rendezvous that we've had about a month, today I got around to polishing it up with my new Griots DA and some Optimum Hyper Compound, followed by Optimum polish, and finished off with a coat of 21.

    Here are the pics:

One more thing, this vehicle has a small ding on the back drivers side door

Any suggestions how to get this fixed? Would this be something I could tape off and use some glazing spot putty sand and paint myself or should I take it to a Body shop? It's about she size of your small finger nail, but it's an eye sore to me.

        Thanks,
        Tom

Looks good! The snow should slide right off.

As for the ding, have you taken it to someone that does paint less dent removal to see if it can be removed? Might be the least expensive option.

Looking at the title you must have the very very first Rendezvous! "Wife's 84 Rendezvous" I don't know gave me a chuckle.

Definitely try the paintless dent removal. Usually the dealer will have someone that does that for them. Some examples are: Dr. Dent, Dent Scholar, etc.

I have had very good results with paintless dent removal. I would try anything before I resort to even a partial repaint.

that looks good for an 84

yes a pdr guy should remove the ding, however its best to get a referral, there are alot of hacks out there.

talk to a used car dealer or a body shop. yes bodyshops do sub out ding work to the dent guys

THanks guys.... The only thing about that ding, it's in the door frame where the metal is thick, so would that affect a PDR's ablilty to pop it back out?

84? hmmmm.... not sure what I meant there... Haha.....
                How about 2004?

On another note, I decided to do a QEW wash on my Grand Prix after I was done with the Buick. I broke out NXT after the wash and it's been forever since I have used that product, always trying this and that. I forgot how great that stuff is on black, really makes it Deep and glossy!

an experienced pdr guy should not have an issue with the door frame it will take more work.

it will just cost more, but thats why its imperative to find a highly recommended technician.
