  • Making a VIPER GTS swirl free *56K* NO

This viper belongs to the manager of a local speed shop. I have done work for them before and it’s always great. The cars are typically in good shape and they send referrals to me quite a bit.

This guy DRIVES this car, I am not sure about the exact mods, but I know that it has engine management and naaaaaaawwwws.

The car had been washed by a hack a few weeks back and he swirled it up pretty bad. He used an acid based wheel cleaner on the wheels and basically ruined them. They are uncoated aluminum!!! The acid flash oxidized the metal, NXT metal polish cleaned them up nicely, but there are still areas that need work (between the spokes).

The interior was a breeze (no pics), just vaced then wiped everything down with Costco APC 10:1.

Total work time was 5 hours and change.

    Process for the paint was:

    -Wash with Meguiars hyper wash

    -Clay with Meguiars aggressive clay

-Apply Meguiars #83 dual action cleaner polish via the rotary and a polishing pad @1200 RPM’s

-Apply Meguiars #80 speed glaze via the PC @ speed 5

-Apply two thin coats of Meguiars NXT

Glass cleaned with NXT glass cleaner

Tires dressed with Meguiars all-season dressing

    Before:

    Full car:

Does anyone recognize that as rubber?

Here are the befores on the motor, it was just a little neglected.

I covered the small computer that you see near the battery with foil before pressure washing then:

    Degreased with MAGNUM

Dressed with eagle one pro water based dressing 1:1

Here are all of the afters:

        very very nice car!
You don't see those cars here in Belgium its way to expensive for fueling up the car.
1 Gallon is here a price around 4a5 $ yes correct, the fuel price is here incredible high. The most cars what we have here are riding on diesel.... Stupid sounds, but cheaper than gasoline.

I keep thinking the same thing. Ebp's thread on that black C4 got me thinking too... It seems water spots are common on C4's, and he seemed to fix the ones on that hood quite well. I've had only mild success with the Cyclo, though I also have been approaching it gently and am in no rush. But it appears for correction work, it's hard to beat the rotary.

Looks great! That blue is a beautiful color. Check out those homemade slicks on the rear!

That Viper turned out awesome! How did you remove the burnt rubber and did you remove any rubber from the inner fenders? What did you do to clean the engine? It looks fantastic!

The wheel wells were full of rubber!! The pressure washer removed 95% of it, for the remaining I used a degreaser(along with a tampico tire brush in the wheel wells) called "magnum." I also used magnum on the motor, I then dressed it with eagle one pro water based dressing 1:1.

                Thanks!!

Did you use a brush to scrub the engine when using the degreaser?

I used an old mitt, a fender brush (green soft bristles), and an EZ detail brush (similar to the meguiars spoke brush). Then just pressure rinsed.

I use Cleartastic sheets to protect the rear fenders from chips and rubber. Then it easily wipes off with Meguiar's Bug & Tar Remover.
