  • 2006 MINI Cooper S Automatic Cabrio

I spent my Sunday teaching this new owner about how to properly take care of her new 1 week old MINI. Her husband has been using dish washing soap and a rag to wash his other 2 cars-which I inspected and were highly swirled out!

In any regards, we started at 9AM sharp and ended by 4PM with a 30 minute break for lunch.

I covered the 5 Step Method in detail, and the husband and wife came away super pleased and happy with the results--agreeing that it looked even better than they day they brought it home.

Used 2 bucket method with grit guard. We taped off the trim with blue masking tape. Claybarred, Paint Cleaned with M80 and PC, NXT Tech Wax with PC, followed by M21 by hand. Tires dressed with Endurance High Gloss Gel.

Unfortunately this image has a 5 hour time difference, and the lighting conditions weren't the same, so the gloss difference wasn't as significant as it is here, but it was still noticeably more glossy.

Looks great, #21 looks awesome on any color. The gloss definitely looks improved, I bet it's got some nice slickness now as well. Keep up the good work.

Thanks! I love it when people get to experience how we detailers see things more acutely. I asked them to feel their paint before we claybarred. It was pretty smooth, but I could feel some above surface contaminants. So then we claybarred a section of the bonnet (hood), and then had them feel it and of course they were astounded at the difference.

Also, I used Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner (#39 I think?) to remove wax off the plastic trim--even though most was taped off, some areas still got wax on it, and HDVC removed it very easily.

          Thanks!

The roof was pretreated and didn't require any treatment or additional protection. Where there were spots, I used some APC (All Purpose Cleaner) and a MF towel. I used an Absorber to dry it.

Btw, here's another Chili Red MCS but hardtop that I detailed a few weeks ago.
