  • A Friends Old 4Runner, Alot of DACP, And Alot Of Elbow Grease !!!

A few weekends ago a good friend wanted me to clean up his old 4Runner for him. It is rarely washed, I don't think it was ever waxed. It has rust holes in area's, and the paint was heavily oxidized. Well I decided to help him out by buffing it out as best as I could.
    Procedure as follows:
    Gold Class Wash
Clay all surfaces (and keeping away from the rust holes)
    DACP with a PC....yellow pad on 5
    NXT
    Stoners IG all windows
    Meg's #40 for all trim

Took me a darn long time since the paint was sooo bad. I did not get any true before shots (I never think of it at the time) but I did get some good during and a good after. Paint is a red single stage which really turned into a gooey mess.

Here is a picture of the oxidation...the whole truck was this bad:

Here a couple of shots of the roof that really show the difference between a neglected oxidized roof, and the power of DACP ! :

Here is a shot of about half the roof done. Look at the difference in the reflection of the utility pole:

Here is my PC just gooey with single stage paint, and another big difference in oxidized and cleaned/polished area's :

More to come in a few minutes.]

What did you follow the 83 with? Nice side by side shots.

Here is the same pillar panel after DACP, but before the NXT:

Here is a front shot after NXT was put down:

That was about as good as my skill level will get that truck. The single stage paint was soft and kind of easy to buff out once the layer of oxidation was gone.
I did have to avoid some bigger area's due to the rust factor, but my friend was very happy with it.

oh, and for some reason the pictures don't look as good uploaded as they do on my computer, but then again, I am not a very good photographer. I am trying to improve though..

WOW, that looks amazing, super improvement!!
Did you get your pad nicely cleaned after buffing, I have some pads where theres still some residy on.

What is funny is that the licenseplate says JEBUS, in the Netherlands this means 'your truck'. Something I justed noticed

Wow! That is quite the transformation! Hopefully your friend will maintain the paint from now on...

            Again, great job!

Now that truck is ready for a hand application of #7, followed by another coat of NXT!
