I ask because I find that on sloped/ curvey cars (like the porshe) I tend to go with 8" pads because I feel I have more control. To each his own, its all how the guy behind the machine feels.

Yea I like the 6 inch pads. I like to shine inch by inch, small sections at a time. Mike Phillips also noticed once how slow I run the rotory, I rarely go higher than 1400 RPM.
So small pad and slow buffer is how I do it.
These swirls were bad and deep. I cut them down with diamond/wool pad on a rotory, then DACP/8006 on the rotory as well. Because the paint was so soft we had to swirl free it with a DA to get it perfect.

hi superior shine-
i signed up after seeing this thread...this is a truly amazing job.
I am interested in your choice ofproducts. I have Camry I must detail as it has not as many swirl marks as the Boxter, but I am looking for the same shineDo you think youcould have gotten a similiar shine using #80 instead of the SwirlFreePolish? I am wondering if aSwirlFree Polish may be a better choice on black then the #80 if all the swirls are out..
I can't get over the Boxter

That is FANTASTIC!!!
It's like looking in the mirror after a shower and then wiping the mirror off!
What I would like to know is how can you buy a $100,000 car and let it get like that?
I guess if tou can afford to buy one then you can always sell it and buy another whe it gets dirty/swirly!

Great job on another beautiful vehicle. Your work and results have always been an inspiration for me and my friend who recently joined the MOL a few months ago. I hope with your photos and advice, I will eventually build up the knowledge to get and use a Rotary and with experience like yours, get excellent results.
It's from experts like you and other MOL members that have driven me to begin detailing other cars (extra weekend cash) which I have come to love and enjoy doing with my partner. Thanks for the photos, and keep them coming. GREAT WORK!!!

Joe, really impressive work! Do you mind to tell me what pad you use when you apply M82 Swirl Free Polish with DA? Thanks.
