  • 97 Jetta GT

I suppose it's not that extreme, but here's what I did with my brother's 1997 Jetta on Saturday. I had a bucket full of cleaning stuff for his car as a birthday present for him. I started with a Soft Gel wash (that stuff smells real nice!) then pulled into the garage to dry. Once the car was dry, my dad and brother went to work installing H&R springs & shocks and I started on the paint...

I used Deep Crystal Cleaner first - it pulled a lot of crud off the surface and got most of the swirlies out. Then I used the DC Polish and the difference was amazing! The digicam just can't capture how much better it looked... Lastly, I used Gold Class wax, mostly because he's not that hardcore about his car's appearance but he's willing to do a one-step wax when it's needed. I figured GC would give him the best results for the effort he's going to put into it. This was all done by hand.

As the wheels came off for the suspension work, I took them outside and used A2Z Wheel Cleaner on the rims (inside & out), Simple Green with a bristle brush on the tires (pulled off lots of brown), rinsed and dried, then applied a light coat of Endurance gel.

When all was done, everybody was happy with the afternoon's work. The Jetta was lowered, new euro-lip installed, and shinier than it's ever been.

    Here's a before & after...
