  • my first extreme makeover, neglected 94 lumina van

    my father in law's van, left to us after he passed. been sitting around as i gave it a tune up and tried to get the stains/smoke smell out so we can sell it for a few grand.

    1994 lumina, owned by his father in law before, doubt it was ever waxed or maintained other than the occasional car wash. as you can see from the before shots, the paint had some oxidation, a lot of swirls, and many paint etchings that were just too deep to get out with what I had.

    Process was;
    Wash
    Clay
    Color X applied by Porter Cable 7424
    Meguiars Speed Glaze #80
    Meguiars Gold Class Wax

    I used my mother's clay bar and the gold class because I figured, why use my good stuff? The clay bar was the last of a kit I bought awhile ago, and had used it to clay my car once or twice, my dad's work truck (massive rust particles from industrial fallout) and this van, it went to the trash after that.

    some before shots (after it was washed);

    taped off one side, the other was clayed and got one coat of colorX

    after shots

    I bet with some more aggressive polish and more time and elbow grease, it could even be better. But just so I can sell it, I think I did ok.

    Not bad... Looks like a big improvement! I have yet to use colorx but I sure want to give it a try, just have to find a vehicle in need of it.

      Hi

      Your results look great, the pictures are to big for everyone to actually see the pictures. I have a 21" monitor and I have to horizontal scroll to see them. When a person has to horizontal scroll to see a picture that means they can't see the entire picture, thus the value and the impact are greatly diminished.

      Here's a link to an article with links inside of it that will show you how to work with images inside the vbulletin environment.

      How to put pictures into your posts

      It takes a little more time to resize your photos to 600 or 700 pixels max, but it enables everyone to see them on their monitor without having to horizontal scroll.

      Hope this helps... and great job!
