Thought some of you would like this. Paint on most black BMW's is pretty soft...so the clear coats are often in bad shape if proper care wasn't taken to wash the car. This one wasn't any different. If there is a silver lining...the paint isn't difficult to correct. In some places, the clear coat was damaged to the point where it couldn't be fixed. Overall though, it came out ok.

    When the car came in...

    Up close...

    Each panel was like this...

M205 and Orange LC Pad (I varied light conditions to give a different perspective...didn't need to use m105 at all...which illustrates just how soft the clear coat is on these cars)

    Fender shots

    Hood shot

After sealant and wax. Optimum Tire Gel used on tires.

Leatherique used on every interior surface (a product I like more than 303)

It came out much better than just okay. Great job.

What sealant did you use ?

      Chem Guy's Blacklight Sealant.

Then a generic wax from detail king which I really like. (Many of their products ****...but i really like their cherry wax...haha)

We love to see someone take on a project like this with a product as mild as M205 and succeed. So many people would automatically think "German car, bad swirls - I need M105 on a cutting pad with a forced rotation tool 'cause a DA just ain't gonna fix this." Nice to see someone thinking things through and really investigating what is actually needed to get the job done. And the car looks fantastic now!!

A few points about your remarks Mike.

First, I'm a nervous wreck whenever I do a paint correction. I've done too many to count and I'm still nervous each time I begin removing clear coat.

Secondly, I try to employ just what is necessary to get the desired level of correction required for each job. I've found its best to give each client an assessment of the paint ahead of time and be completely realistic with them so they know what to expect.

Third, a slightly more abrasive pad with m205 does an amazing job. I've had the best luck with small amounts of m205 on small areas at a time...making sure the compound is fully broken down before moving on to the next panel. In my earlier days, I didn't have the required patience and I wasted a lot of m105/m205 without getting great results.

Soon I'll try the d300 compound with microfiber pads...as it looks like I'll really enjoy the results.
