  • Bayliner correction

I recently did a complete detail on this 06 Bayliner.

The boat was not in terrible shape but the client wanted to get it back to looking new rather than it look twice as bad another five or ten years down the road.

I also did a complete cleaning and detail of the interior as their was plently of dirt and grime getting loaded up from being used as a fishing boat.

I had the boat for three days and was able to get it done in a total of two full workdays.

    Some befores:

The prep work was important as everything needed to be nice and clean before polishing & sealing the gelocoat.

I removed some of the vinyl seats and covers from the interior to be cleaned during the wash/prep stage.

I then started by pressure washing underneath the boat and worked my way up. The bottom of the boat was degreased with 3D Citrus & bug/tar remover.

The entire boat & trailer was washed and foamed with Super Soap.

Here is the condition of the boat after washing.

General oxidation and marks from the tarp were the main issue.

The boat was compounded/polished with #49 - Heavy Duty Oxidation Remover & a mf cutting disc via PCXP. This cut the oxidation and left a really nice finish, much better than foam.

Some areas were compounded by hand as the PC would not fit there.

    Here is a 50/50:

    More just after compounding:

The boat was then polished/waxed with Flagship Premium Marine Cleaner Wax via PCXP and mf finishing disc. The boat was getting glossier at this point and more refined.

The gelcoat was sealed with Flagship Premium Marine Wax via PCXP & 5.5' LC CCS red pads.

    Interior:

    Vacumm.
All Vinyl and flooring cleaned with All Purpose Cleaner and hot water.
All vinyl & plastic dressed with Quik Interior Detailer.
All painted surfaces washed with ONR.
All painted surfaces sealed with Flagship Premium Marine Wax.
Glass cleaned with Glass Cleaner Concentrate 10:1.

I then turned my attention to the final details of the exterior.

The trailer was sealed with Synthetic X-Press Spray Wax.
    Tires dressed with Hyper-Dressing 1:1.
Chrome trim polished with All Metal Polish.
    Vinyl dressed with #57 - Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner.
Ladder & rack cleaned with All Purpose Cleaner.

    Afters:

Client was very happy and said it looked better than new.

    Nice job Nick!

One question...what do you do about the area(s) under the 'saddles' (on the trailer), just ignore them or move the boat a touch?

    Just curious.

      Nice job Nick.

      Couple questions though.

      - Which cutting discs specifically did you use to get through the oxidation?

      - How did you manage the very bottom side of the hull where the trailer creates a problem for accessibility?

As to your second question, I'm guessing it was either his helicopter or his fork truck. Nick has most of the tools of the trade.

            Nick, awesome.

                    Thanks.

I used the Meguiars 5.5" MF cutting & finishing discs.
