This truck belongs to a best friend of mine. His Dad was the original owner of it in 1999. My friend ended up buying it about 3-4 years ago. The front had been wrecked back in 2006 or so, but the body shop did a poor job. The paint and clear were peeling on the edges under the hood. The paint is full of sanding scratches. The worst part is this...the clear coat. The OEM paint is in better shape than what they used. I had my hands full on this job. To say the least, I was tired that day. But I did get a cold beer, a grilled steak and baked potato for my hard work. I also got three Meguiar's Clay Bar kits from them. Their local Target store had them on clearance and they bought the last three for me.
I did not try to remove every scratch on the truck. My main duty was to restore the shine in the hood and the rest of the truck. I wanted to give it some good shine and protection.
Washed with NXT Wash
Clay Bar (Meguiar's white)
Started with #83 on the hood, but it didn't do squat.
I went with D151 Paint Conditioning Cream instead and wow!
Finished with NXT Tech wax.
Trim done with Meguiar's Trim Detailer. (gel and aerosol)
Tires treated with Meguiar's Endurance tire gel.
