I personally wouldn't turn anyone away, but I would charge accordingly.

Think of it from your customer's perspective.

Turn away a customer's personal vehicle... well let's just say, they will take it personally.

Turn away a business customer... let's just say, next time they pick up the phone, they'll call the guy that they can rely on.

Nick, good for you for getting in there and getting the job done. You're the type of guy, I wouldn't hesitate doing business with.

Amazing turnaround! I agree, this customer needs black weathertech floor mats ASAP!

I can understand your perspective, however, as a business owner I have just as much right as a customer has to pick who I do business with. I don't get many like this, but I've found that most of the people that trash their vehicles are typically the ones that want everything for nothing and complain when it doesn't look like a show car at the end. If they aren't happy when they leave, you're risking your reputation because those are the types that will go out of their way to trash your business to other people. Those are also the ones that price shop like a pro so they have no loyalty when it comes to the "next time".

Sometimes, vehicles in really bad condition simply need a match and a can of gasoline vs. a detail because no amount of detailing is going to bring them back. Those are the kind of headaches I will gladly and politely refer to someone like yourself.

Nick great work cleaning the Suburban
From reading this and other statements I can only guess that you don't have kids. Looked like most family trucksters I've seen where cleanliness is allowed to lapse due to the hectic daily schedules of life. Great job bringing it back in line.

The interior took about six hours. The exterior took about two.

I would hate to see the home they live in !! NICK DON'T take that detail the "house" LOL!!! Great look when it was finished !!

I did not really want to turn down the job, I am always up for a challenge.

I think it looks much much better, but not 100%. The damage has been done in some areas.

But the damage has already been done, it would certainly help in the future though.

I only met the lady once and it was very brief, I could care less if she goes around saying I do terrible work. All I would have to do is keep a before picture of this truck in my wallet and show anyone that confronted me about it.

I am not risking my reputation at all IMO. I have plenty of happy customers that I do business with.

I realize that people are busy when they have kids and jobs but there's no excuse for letting a vehicle get that bad. People are lazy and don't set limits for their kids these days.

Growing up, there were 4 kids in my family. That meant my mom running all over town for school, after school activities, scouts, her job, helping out on paper routes in bad weather, running us to work before we had licenses, summers full of little league, etc. Her car never looked as bad as this Suburban for two reasons. 1 - We weren't allowed to have anything but water in the car. 2 - At a minimum, it got a quick vacuum, wipe down, and windows cleaned every couple of weeks. If one of my dad's cars had looked that bad, there would have been fewer kids around our house.

Nick - I and most other people here know you do fantastic work, but I'm sure you've heard the saying that goes something like, "A happy customer tells one person, an unhappy customer tells everybody". If someone that doesn't know your work like we we do and that unhappy customer tells them about their "bad experience with Nick", you can pretty much guarantee they will cross you off their list before they even call.

Soooo true! Seems like too many kids rule their parents these days instead of the other way around. Pretty sad.

                      Yes, thats true.

I have not heard from her since I picked up the vehicle, I guess if she had a problem she would have called me.

I think anyone would know that such a mess will not come 100% clean and look brand new though.

Wow Tuck, what a turn around. That 100x better IMO than what it was when you started.

WHat model vac/steamer or w/e you are using, do you have?

I must say I'm impressed. I've done some vans and SUVs that I would say were equally trashed, but I can't say I made them look as good as this one. Nice job! I think I need to adopt your methods

I just use a standard 6.5 HP blue shop vac from Lowes.

The carpet feels much better as well, its soft and no longer sticky.

Great Job Nick. You can never say it enough times, THAT INTERIOR WAS DISGUSTING! Carpet that soiled definitely needs many passes to make it look decent at least. You had your work cut out for you my man. I bet it felt great to hand the truck back over to the client and call it a day.
