  • 2003 Alero paint restore

Well we bought this car as a beater at an auction for cheap. Body has no dings and the interior just needs a good shampooing. All the accessories work and the engine and transmission have no leaks.

The car belongs to my grandparents and they told me it doesnt need to be 100% corrected.

On to the finish. The car looks like it was washed with brown 3M pad. Its just horrible. The roof, bumpers, doors, hood, trunk has been knocked down to being matte.

I thought the scratches werent done by something less than 1000 but #105 and a heavy cutting pad on a rotary would barely effected them. So I busted out some 1500 and it helped but not all are removed. I dont wanna sand through and the grandparents arent worried about 100% correction.

Im gonna update this post since I have to do the car whenever I can do to long work hours. Ill do it piece by piece and post up pictures.

The first 3 picture are showing how the paint is before I ever touched it.

    BEFORE:

    AFTER

In this picture you can see some scratches arent able to come out and im worried to sand too much and then its completely ruined.

If I have too ill reclear it since I got some clear coat laying around.
