I'm in the process of starting my own detailing business after many years of "tinkering" with vehicles. I have always wanted to and have been fortunate to have friends and family's encouragement but never the time. Having lost my 30 year job to overseas, I now have that time!
This is my neighbor Steve's truck. Steve has spent 15 months in Iraq, home for 4 months then the last 9 months in Afghanistan. The truck has sat in the sun and weather here in Arizona during the whole time with little or no attention. WHAT A MESS. I figured for all he has done for this country, this one FULL detail was a freebie for Steve. Thanks Steve for what you did, do and continue to do. GOD BLESS AMERICA.
Process:
4 FULL days to complete. Estimated 38 hours.
Step 1) PRAY! As this was my FIRST big step to being on my own with someone else's vehicle. And my very first black vehicle which scared me to death!
I will get into the detail process later.
Before:

Some of the scratches and swirls.

After the wash/dry and claying, I could tell all the more that this was gonna be a HUGE challenge.

So I put some light to my challenge...prepared my test area and wondered all the while what I had gotten myself into. I then quietly walked over to the corner of the garage, sat down and cried like a baby!

The below was round one on the DA with swirl X followed by speed glaze.. I ended up doing this 3 times over to rid most of the swirls. It was so crucial to me to get this right for Steve (and myself)

On with the after:
Out side shots. I couldn't fit the truck in my garage because it is lifted. So I nosed it in as far as I could to perform some work and then turned it around to backed it in as far as I could to continue the work.
