I want to ask something, you washed the car to remove any compounding dust, will it add another swirls before waxing process?

I'm due to detail my sister in laws Toyota Avensis and its at least as bad a this one, maybe worse. I dont have 105/205 so would UC be a good substitute or does Toyota paint vary?

                      Thanks

Thanks Seech. He's quite occupied with work therefore has minimum time to do DIY wash so he patrons 'carwash' that are convenient (near and cheap) to him. I told him good places to do his future washing though.

Thanks Batmobile. Well, this is what I understand of washing after polishing.

What ever action that involves physically touching the car, will infact cause a valid risk of instilling swirls. But, with proper washing methods and good tools & products (good example would be Meguiars' washmitts & shampoos) I do believe the risk of re-instilling swirls would be somewhat minimized.

I opted to wash the car due to the fact that the sheer amount of dust all over the car was too much and using a QD to wipe off all the dust would take much more time to do (IMHO).

                        Hope that answers your question.

Thanks Mark. UC would be the nearest substitute to M105. I believe one major difference would be that UC is meant for DA and M105 (old formula) correspond to the use of a rotary.

On the workability of paint, I can comment much on the Avensis. One thing that comes to mind is to try and search in Detailing World to give a some insight on the workability factor.

edit: Here's a writeup on a Toyota Avensis from the neighbouring website.

An edit on my previous post. I cant comment much on the paint's workability on an Avensis because I never came across one. Cheers, Tim
