Wow, we've seen orange peel before but this is, what, grapefruit peel?? The texture is HUGE and looks like one of the Photoshop "water color paint" filters was added to it!

And to think you could get it this flat, almost mirror image:

Nobody is going to believe this is a "$259 paint job" when they see it. Just goes to show what proper prep and finishing steps can do for a finish.

Frank, this is just awesome, thanks for sharing it with us.

WOW! Amazing work...goes to show that as long as enough paint is laid down a skilled paint polisher can do incredible things...fantastic

            Thank You Michael

I could not even buy the paint & materials for less than $350.00 min. and
Maaco gave me just what I asked for. There were a lot of defects in the old finish that would have needed a full strip to bare to correct but with the budget the owner ask me to work with Maaco was just what was needed and the heavy peel was the painters attempt to bury defects and give me enough paint to work them hard to achieve the results I wanted.

So far the owner has seen it after all the prep sanding was done and right after it was painted with the grapefruit peel,he has no idea what I am doing he just said I guess I got what I paid for and ask me to do what I could to shine it up a little more.

I hope to have the camera close when he stops to see the end result.

Wow! Great turn around! I agree that no one will believe it was under $300 for that paint job when you are all done!

Hopefully you can have video rolling - the owner is going to faint when he sees the finished product!

What are the plans for redoing the graphics? Was he able to source NOS decals or at least some faithful reproductions.

Yeah, capture the owners bursting in tears and giving each other hugs when they see the finished products! Then Frank would also burst into tear as well! hehe

Kind of like the show Extreme Makeover by TLC or Pimp my Ride by MTV.
