  • OMG a 1972 Hilum Hunter

This car sat under trees at a transport company where I work for 4 yrs .
The owner drove it to work and thats where it stayed ,left to rot away lol...
About a month ago my boss asked me if I could polish a car for him ,I said yeah shaw what have you got ,A Hilum Hunter, OMG you mean that car that was in the yard ???? YES....

He paid $500.00 and it is going to be his daughters 1st car. A cheap car to learn in ,so it did not matter if she put a ding in it here or there .
All he wanted was to put a bit of shine on it so it looked half pie descent going down the road.

With it sitting under the trees for so long the paint on the top side was pretty shot.I pointed this out to him and said I will see what I can do.The Car was already washed be for I got it.

    Products used

    M95 wool - Rotary
    M83 Foam - Rotary
    M80 Foam - DA
    Carnauba wax
    All Season Dressing - Tyres
A1 Water Spot Remover - Windows
Hot Rims Mag and Aluminum Polish - Hub Caps

Remember this car is in poor condition

Check out the rust on the edges

    Love the shine ...NOT...

Well this is about as much shine as I could get

Love the way the glass came out

A few photos outside be for the rain came

Of all the cars that I have polished out .I have never meet someone that was so excited to see there car and the transformation .

Nice Job Smurf! Isn't it fun to bring the life back to dead paint!

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

      I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
      Remove swirls my friends.

            1. I love this line "...so it looked half pie descent going down the road." I don't know what it means exactly, but I like it.

            2. Fantastic job on that car. Never seen one of those in the state before.

"Half pie decent" is Kiwi talk for "not bad looking" or "acceptable to be seen in or with" as this can be assigned to any number of "things, people, cars" blaa blaa blaa. When you go to the pub and see a not bad looking girl you "quietly" make the comment to you mate.... "gosh she's half pie decent" you don't let a Kiwi girl hear you.... they have VERY good right hooks.....

              you get the picture

by the way the wife wrote this.......

Looks respectable now.... Have to get a deal to go over the inside next, I am sure it needs a touch up.

The car has only done 44,000mls and the owner had already done the inside.Even the inside of the boot had been cleaned, looked brand new and still had the original tool kit with it
