I used a little rotary on some parts, and a lot of DA.
I think you can most certainly get the same results using DA only, but it would take a bit more time. With Rotary and DA, I have about 20 hours in this paint. You could add another 5-10 hours for a DA only job. But my perception of a "finished" job may be different from yours. Only thing I can say is pick some up and give it a shot. Use very little product, and clean your pad often. Also, work smaller area's. My typical work area is usually a 1'x1', and sometimes even smaller.

Hi Nick,

Any way you could post your process on this one in a little more detail? Like what pads you used and at what speeds? I own a similar vintage Ford truck that I am trying to restore the paint on. I am using a rotary for the fist time and have thus far tried D151 with foam cutting and polishing pads. The D151 is great to work with, but is pretty slow going requiring many passes to remove the swirls. I do have some samples of M105/M205 and am planning on trying that next.

That's one unbelievable transformation. Looking at the first photo I did think that the paint was matt. You did a fantastic job bringing this car back to the kingdom of shine.

Maybe I missed it, but this was M105 and 205 by rotary only? Could you get the similar results using a PC with the same combo?

So what was the owners reaction to it? Phenomenal job btw.

Owner was blown away. He was prepared to repaint until I asked to have a crack at it. Saved him a couple grand.

Someone upstring asked if that was all with a rotary??? I'd also like to know if that is with or without an LSP?

Looks like you're getting the hang of the Xsi too, how do you like it so far?

Little rotary, little DA

I'm sure by now most of you have some of the new M105 and M205 in your garage. Play with them both on DA, rotary and by hand. I believe you will be amazed at the work these products will do for you.
