  • Oxidized Red Saturn Vs. the PC

First off I want to give special thanks to f1guy68 for his advice on reconditioning red paint. His post about the red BMW showed what could be done with the PC. Red BMW

My situation was similar except I thought I was dealing with CC failure not oxidation.

    Here's the victim.

    This is the experimentation phase:

On the left is MPPC and #80 Speed glaze.
    Middle is MPPC alone.
    Right is untouched.

Please note the bottle reflections (or lack there of) in the paint. I did do an alcohol test and found the MPPC side went back to old condition. The #80 test area maintained the polished look. All products were applied with the PC and polish pad. MPPC speed was 4 and a click. #80 was 5 and a click.

    Drum roll please!!
    This is the finished project.

    The products used were
    1. NXT wash
    2. Quick Clay
    3. MPPC
    4. #80
    5. Last touch detail spray
    6. NXT topper (applied with PC set at 3)

This was only an exterior detail and mostly just the paint reconditioning. There were other flaws I will fix later. The client wanted the paint looking good. They weren't too worried about the other problems. As for the other problems, the pics won't show the water etching that remained. My main focus was fixing the most visible part of the vehicle to the driver.

I didn't use #83 DACP today to see what the #80 will do. I very pleased with how efficient #80 is. The quality of finish with #80 is also great.

    What do you think??

I've already lined up three jobs after showing these pics just this afternoon.

Ummmmm...Thanks! You're Very Welcome! That's what this forum is all about! I'm glad some of my info was of use to you!

Now..back to you and this red car....lol

    How long did you take?

Do you think #83 would have been any benefit! (I don't think it would with CC failure!)

Man..I'm impressed...see...the PC in the right hands can do a great job!

    Way to go scrub!

        "How long did you take?"
We started at about 10:30. Finished about 1:30. Today was test day so to speak. I had a bud from work help out on this ride. He's a potential business partner. This was an opportunity for him to see some of my work first hand. He was impressed too. We'll have to work out the details (he-he-he details) about the business so I'll keep you posted.

This was also a training session to teach an intro to PC use. So that took some extra time.

"Do you think #83 would have been any benefit! (I don't think it would with CC failure!)"

I think it would of been great to use. I wanted to accomplish 2 things today. One cut down (not cut corners) the time it takes to PC a car with outstanding results. If it meant going to #83 then I would, but even 2 coats of #80 was more efficient than one coat #83. IMO
2nd it was a great opportunity to let #80 flex it's muscles so to speak. I've seen some great work on this forum with #80. I wanted to really just leave the finish up to #80 as a single step. I now have a great idea of what #80 can do on its own. That makes this product marketable as my step for paint reconditioning. For minor flaws anyway. #83 will still be for major work. I can "throw in"#80 as a freebee and say I did a light compound but didn't charge ya! Better value for my clients. Better result and I didn't lose much time.

Thanks for your compliments and info. It has been a great help and inspiration to me.

          scrub,

          Thanks for the great answers!

          Yes...# 80 is awesome on it's own! I like it...like it a lot!

I'm glad your bud was impressed! Hopefully, you guys can team up and make a great go of it!

I have a wonderful friend from this forum that I would love to partner with (Business that is...lol), but he lives in California, and I live in Canada, so it would be a hell of a drive into work....lol

And I wouldn't mind having a team with you either! You're really doing some excellent work!

          Thanks Again...

Good work scrub!! Man, I told you about #80. It's the greatest of all the Meg's polishes. I like it enough to buy it by the gallon!

You were right on the money about #80. It's a great product. I like the fact that #80 can almost do the work of #83 (with two passes of #80).

                Thanks again.

                How's the business going??

As previously stated in post I'm discussing with a friend from work about forming a partnership. I mentioned your comany name and your ideas you had and he seemed interested. Let me know what your thoughts are and maybe we can put something together..

Thank you! I agree that #80 is the way to go. I think its safe enough to use on most cars as the step before NXT. Not every time but often.

Pics... I think i might get two more details from this set of pics. The people I've shown them to can't believe the difference.

I wonder who's great looking Black Avalanche that is??
