  • "Quick" detail project

Chuck's SS destroyed what was left of an LS1 engine at the end the 2005 race season. It spent winter outside a garage and was moved to F-Body Central for about a month ago. Since then, it's been sitting on a lift collecting dust.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------
    Car: 1998 T-top SS Camaro (black) - 9.80 sec @ 140 mph
Interior: GUTTED w/ full roll cage, one seat
Anticipated problems: Unpainted fiberglass nose, massive amounts of exposed wire (not dangerous, just not 'pretty')
Purpose of project: Exterior & Interior surface care, clean up wiring, paint where necessary, polish exposed metal surfaces.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm waiting for pictures from yesterday and will post them as soon as I can. Here's what has been done so far.

    May 29, 2006
    1) Uncover black SS Camaro from 6 inches of dust.
    2) Partially remove/label engine bay wiring harness.
    3) Clean, Degrease, and generally SCRUB(!) engine bay.
    4) Paint engine bay (both gloss and flat black).
    5) Install engine, transmission and front suspension.

GRRR - I want to get to work on this project SO BAD... but it's still on a lift. Can't do a whole lot with it until the thing runs.

Dave, nice SS! The red w/ black always looks so good!
