  • Meguiar's product demonstration at Mercedes Delearship

I wanted to share those pics with you all.
They were shot during a demonstration for a Mercedes Dealership in Belgium...
As they wanted to "really" test the products they provided this blue? car...
They told me this car went nearly every day to the car wash!!
It been a while since I've seen finish in this condition

And Now closer with the flash, even the flash doesn't bring any depth or clarity, no DOI at all!

I started with M-85 and W4000 with the rotary, followed with M-82 and topped with M-21.

    Here are some pics after

That finish was SCOURED by daily automatic washing. As soon as I opened your post and saw the first picture, I recognized the culprit: an automatic car wash.

Excellent recovery work...the paint went from being greyed and dull to a deep blue
See the big picture, enjoy the details

What pad did you use with the M82?

This is a product that doesn't get much discussion on the forum. It does very well in the right situation.

Meguiar's DAT in M-85 works just wonders!
It has a perfect cutting action, when the diminishing abrasives break down you just have to be gentle with the pressure and it leaves a perfect finish without swirls!

M-82 was applied with the soft buff finishing pad W9000 and the rotary .

I then applied M-21 (only had to do the demo on this fender) by hand but I usually use a random orbital buffer or the rotary.

When you need to work on a delicate finish black or blue or burgundy that are very scratch sensitives M82 and W9000 is one of the best combinations.

Here I didn't want any cutting action but added richness and depth.

              - Their first surprise was using a wool pad without leaving scratches and swrils behind like other brands ,
              - second, they were happy to see it wipes off so easily
              - third there are no white residues like the products they actually work with...
              - finally, time! It only took a little more than 5 minutes to buff and polish the fender...

A friend saw my post and mailed me to ask why I started straight with M-85 and the wool pad?

The answer is quite simple; we were not asked this time to make a perfect detail job,
the concern of this job was only TIME, no matter how many mils of clear were buffed away, it was the company car with over 250.000kms.

As the 'only time matters' is very common, it is always a good idea for a detailer to have a paint gauge and check the paint thickness when removing deep defects on second hand cars...
