First, let me introduce myself, my name is Rick, and I’m from the Netherlands, 35 years old, and I have been fascinated by cars since the day I was born.
Here’s my story, and please keep in mind, English is not my country's language, and was 20 years ago that I had my last lesson at school. Since I work in a car parts shop, were we supply all garages, I always know where the nice cars are hidden. I wash and wax cars since I was 10 years old, (now I’m 35), and since Meguiar’s representative David had visited our shop, and I had the chance to try his products, I was very impressed by the results.
Since my childhood, I’m a Porsche fan, and a little while ago, I found a 1985 Porsche 924, in very bad condition. It was neglected for over three years left behind in a barn, where there also were cats, chickens, and youngsters, who spray painted their mopeds in the same barn, without minding the car.
The car, by the way is a so-called ''Weissach'' model, and was made for the 75 years birthday of Porsche's design studio in Weissach. It is in champagne color, which is seldom for a 924, and is loaded with nice options, but most of all, they made only 300 of these cars. I got the car for only $2500, and went to my brother in law, who is a highly skilled mechanic for Mercedes Benz, and asked him if he could analyze the mechanical condition, and if he would help me repairing stuff. Of course, he would.
After the car was technically in top shape, which took a couple of weeks, the cleaning had to be done. I did all of the job with Meguiar’s, and was so happy with the results, that I instantly went to the photo shop to get a digital camera, to share the results with you guys. That is also the reason that I have no before pictures, oh stupid me.
Here’s how I did the job:
-Hose off the loose dirt with water
-Washed the car 4 times with Gold Class Shampoo
-Clayed it
-Put on a layer of Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner (Step-1)
-Polished it with Deep Crystal Polish (Step-2)
-Waxed it with Deep Crystal Carnauba wax (Step-3)
-Topped it with NXT Tech Wax.
-All rubber and vinyl had a Trim detailer layer
-Wheels and tyres had Hot Rims Wheel Cleaner/Hot Shine Tire Spray combination.
The last piece of the exhaust is chrome again thanks to Gold Class All Metal Restorer.
Below the pictures and please keep in mind: this car is 19 years old, and still in original factory paint.
Hope you like the (sorry, longgg) story, but I don't know all the right words, so sometimes I have to describe to make clear what I mean.
