  • M26 vs S100

i know i'm asking for a comparison between a meguiars product and another brand, so the opinions might be a little biased. but those of you who have used both, how do they compare? i have a black truck, and i'm looking for that deep black mirror finish. i already have a coat of nxt 2.0. and would like to top it with one or the other. the nxt definitely adds a nice gloss, but now i need something to bring out the black. i've never used M26 before, but i have some experience with s100. its a pretty good easy on/easy off wax that leaves a nice finish.

Which one looks better to your eyes is something only you can determine. M26 is a very highly regarded wax for use on dark colors, however, and you'll get plenty of positive reviews of it here. Unlike S100 though, we do want you to allow M26 to dry fully before wipe off. But a properly thin coat will dry very quickly and wipe off with ease. It also dries clear so it shouldn't pose any problems with staining trim, leaving white specs in tiny stone chips on the hood, etc.

And it has a great banana aroma!

that is true. i guess i'm just wondering if one is considered better for bringing out black than the other. in other peoples opinions of course.

i dont mind the "hazing" aspect of M26 as long as its worth it when i'm done. lol. if i go with M26, i haven't decided if i will go with paste or liquid.

M26 is an underrated wax and it easily competes with others that cost twice as much or even more.

even though i still have about half a jar of s100, i think i'm going to pick up some m26 today and give it a try. now i just gotta decide if i want paste or liquid.

You won't regret the purchase. In my opinion, M26 looks better on darker paints than P21S 100%, which is similar to S100. That's the best comparison I can personally give you from my use of both products... hope it helps.

thanks a lot. i put a coat of nxt on last week. i'm hoping to have enough time today to wash and put a coat of M26 on top of the nxt. i'm excited. i went with the liquid version of M26 since most think it applies and removes easier.

                Re: M26 vs S100

#26 has better durability and a noticebly deeper appearance than S100, so it looks better on darker paints. Probably give S100 the edge in appearance on silvers and pearls and it is very easy to use so even though you have to apply it more often it isn't a big deal.

How are you prepping the paint?

IMHO it will not matter what is your lsp if the paint is not prepped properly.
