    Re: Body Solvent

    Body Solvent works great.

I found that the key is to let it sit and dwell on the surface for a little while for it to work best. I usually leave it sit on the vehicle for at least 5 to 10 minutes to give it time to work and break down the road tar.

It's a great product though, and smells good too.

I'd be interested to hear more reviews on this, anyone? Do you like another product better?

Body Solvent is great as long as you give it plenty of time to dwell as Mister B said. Spray it on, let it sit for a few minutes and wipe off. Easy right!

As all the others have said: Meguiar's Body Solvent MUST dwell on the problem spots before it does it's magic. If in a rush, I use Stoners Tarminator. I like BOTH products.

I like Body Solvent a lot. The key is to let it dwell on whatever your are trying to remove. I have used it to loosen up adhesive, stickkers, tar, bugs and tree sap.

              Hope this helps.

So Tuck, do you find it rinses off well? Or are you wiping it off? It seems to be a lot like spraying on WD40! Tough to get off for me. Once I used Body Solvent, wiped it off. Tried to clay bar some remaining bug guts with a clay sponge and the Body Solvent disolved the clay sponge into a black smear on the paint! Weird.

Body solvent is slightly oily so rinsing only will not remove it all. You need to wipe it off. I always wash the vehicle after I use it to make sure I remove it all.

                      Re: Body Solvent

ok so i got a gallon of body solvent after seeing a lot of good reviews about it and how well it works.

                      i can't state how disappointed i am!!!

my mom's 300c had tree sap on the hood and on the window. I bought a gallon so any tree sap and road tar could be removed with it.

i sprayed body solvent onto the areas at full strength and let it dwell for about 10 mins before i tried to remove the tree sap. It did not do anything to the area. i had the car wet bc i was washing the car and did not put soap on the area until the 10 mins were over. i went over the area with a bug sponge and it did not put a dent onto the dried sap.

is the area supposed to be dry or wet? should i wash the area before i spray on BS?

i hope i didn't waste my money by buying a gallon of this stuff.

on a side note. i also tried spraying this to the front of the car(while it was wet) to remove the caked on bugs, same thing let it sit for 10 mins. the bugs were not even close to being removed with BS.

i'm a long time user of meguiars and love all the other meguiars products i have. this is the first time i've been disappointed!

I've used Body Solvent with 100% success, but I do have limited experience with it (2-3 applications). I've been able to remove tar and bugs.

The instructions state to apply, let dwell for 30-45 seconds then wipe off. No you do not want the vehicle wet.

I suggest you try again with a shorted dwell time. Do a test section and see what amount of time works best for you.

                          Re: Body Solvent

I have a customer with a 2010 crew cab silverado that stays outside. Problem is that he has quite a few California Fan palm trees in the front yard...these trees drop NASTY seeds that have stained the hood, roof and tonneau cover all over.

I did a few test spots and washing will absolutely not remove it, clay will begin to pull it up, heavy polishing will remove it, but takes forever, and the only thing that seemed to be working with any degree of success was almost scrubbing with a cleaner-wax.

Do you think Body Solvent will be able to take care of this? It SOUNDS like a great product...so I might have to stick some into my next order from ADS.

body solvent didn't work for me. i read through a lot of tuck's threads and he said to let it dwell for a longer period of time. maybe bc the car was wet it didn't work as well i dont know.

my buddy lent me a can of stoner's tarminator and it got off the sap in 1 second!

I also use the solvent as the first step in removing paint transfer. Spray it on, let it set up for about a minute and then scrub/wipe off with a general purpose microfiber. If that did not get it all, out comes the 105!
