Just found out how M105, M205 work with Flex

Got my shipment of M105 (already had a quart of M205, but recently ordered a gallon!) and my new Flex from Auto Detailing Solutions. Thanks again, Rick!

I have never touched the tailgate of my truck before except to dry and spray wax it. Since I'll soon have my decals installed I decided it better look good when headlights hit it at night. Put the halogens on it today and this is what it looked like. Trust me, my camera does not do these swirls justice!



After one pass with M105, 8207 polishing pad on Flex, speed 4



After two passes. Very Nice! And it would have been fine since all the swirls were gone, but you can't see some deep RIDS that remained so I decided to take it further for my own personal satisfaction and experience.



So, I went to M105 on a 6" Purple Foamed Wool pad on Flex, speed 3. Now this is working! There was noticeable difference after finishing with M205, 9207 Megauir's finishing pad, Flex on speed 4, burnishing on speed 3 but my camera would not pick it up. I think I could have finished with the PFW and M105 (new version). This stuff is fantastic! There are no swirls and almost all the RIDS except those through the clear are gone. For LSP I applied M21 with CCS finishing pad on speed 3. I am very happy with this combo on this paint and can't wait to try it on my wife's friend's black compact next week! (I have got to get a new camera )

You didn't order from Amazon did you? I'm still waiting on my order from them for 3 of M20532 for $17 each. I canceled my order of M105 after they notified me (again) that there was an indefinite delay since it was probably the older version anyway. I figured on the M205 that I wouldn't cancel because Maybe some day it will come in and the price is right! Probably dreaming, though.

I hope you get yours soon! In my limited experience M105 and M205 are a great combo, as many have said before me.

I did not know that. Sorry!

Mine is the Flex XC 3401 VRG orbital DA, although I think you could get the same results with a rotary using M105 and either a foamed wool pad, foam polising pad or finishing pad depending on defect level. I'm going to try it today with my Makita rotary, a PFW, polishing pad and finishing pad (seperately) on three test areas and see if I can finish with it before M21 as LSP.

Looks like you got some good use out that machine. What products and procedures have you been using?

I hope mine last a good long time. I used it for 8 hours a day the past two days and it was pretty hot most of the time. I really like it (XC 3401). It's light, easy to use after replacing the stock handle with a side handle and it really gets 'er done!

Camera battery went dead so I don't have photos yet except this one. Still need to finish the exterior trim anyway. The paint finished out really nice. Used the Flex, purple foamed wool pad with M105, then CCS yellow finishing pad with M205 and Meguiar's finishing pad with M21 for LSP. I really like the cutting/speed of the PFW. I don't have a Meguiar's burgundy cutting pad to try and the polishing pad was not fast enough (for me) on my scratches and swirls. I'll be getting my "detailing for hire" decals this week and wanted it to look worthy. They are going on the side and rear topper windows.

A CCS yellow finishing pad from LC? Where can I find these? All the retailers I have seen only have the yellow CCS heavy cutting pads. Is it the same color yellow 'cause that could be a very costly mistake if mixed up? How would you say the CCS yellow finishing pads compare to the CCS black, blue, and red finishing pads from LC?

Excellent results on the truck, by the way. Sorry for the semi-hijacking but I am always curious to learn more about detailing and this appears to be a pad I haven't used yet...

I'm sorry, I was tired after a long day in the hot sun! It is the pad shown on the right, a super soft 6.5" GOLD Concours CCS Finishing pad from Lake Country. I got it at Classic Motoring's store in Tampa. Proper Auto Care on the internet. In retrospect, it's a little too soft to follow up the PFW pad and M105, but I had primed it with M205 so I used it. May have been better to follow M105 PFW with M205 on a polishing pad to remove any light swirls caused by the PFW although I didn't see any. I took the time to make a slow speed pass with light pressure with the PFW and M105 and that brought up the gloss and removed light swirls that I could see. I don't have my canopy yet and working under my oak tree the sun/shade was "mottled" which made it difficult to see imperfections in the paint so I was going off what worked on a test section before my Brinkmann went dead. Finding angles to see the sun's reflection to inspect the paint throughout the day really gave me a nice sunburn even though I was working in the shade mostly. Next time, sunscreen!
