    M105 is Oh my lord!

I haven't had a chance to complete an entire car yet, but so far it is my new favorite product!

Still not sure how you guys are going straight to your LSP. Although I don't get any buffer swirls, I am getting some holograms. Maybe I need to work on my technique a little with the new product.

    2 thumbs up Meguiar's!!!

Yes, M105 is incredible. I'm willing to bet that the holograms you're getting are as much a function of the paint as any technique on your part. Some paints are just more susceptible to marring, swirls, scratches, etc. About the only tip I can give you is to slow down your work - don't move the machine too quickly over the paint. If you ultimately need to go back over the finish with a DA and a mild polish then so be it. Just remember that you're working with a pretty heavy cutting compound here, not just a polish. That makes M105 all the more amazing.

I haven't used 105 yet and just learned how to use the rotary, but are you guys even going to an actual polish after the M105? If you are, what are you guys using? #9?

      Thanks,
      Ryan

On my Crossfire I was able to go straight to wax but I used M105 with a foam polishing pad. I'm going to give it another shot with a wool pad now that my comfort level has soared - that Alpine buff out did wonders for my confidence!! Well, tutoring from Kevin Brown and Jason Rose helped a lot too!!!

If you find you need to use a polish after M105 then I'd go the least aggressive route needed. If that's #9 then great!!!

I have heard alot of good things about M105 and I have not used it yet. I am excited for when I get a chance to try out this product for myself.

I can t wait to see. Solo doesn t make much, if not at, all holograms. And M105 is better for what i was told. I am scared to buy it though, cause of freezing issues.

Would it make sense if.....after one uses #105, follow up with a cleaner wax, like #66 or #6? #66 has a "Cut 4" on the scale, same as #80. That would save a step.

Sure you could, and I think it's a great idea because 66 is such a terrific product.

As a follow up to my earlier post - I did have an opportunity to use a wool pad with M105 on the hood of my Crossfire. I followed up with M09 on a finishing pad using the DA and the end result looks pretty darn awesome. Sorry, no pictures (what was I thinking????). Let me say that I used the M09 only because I wanted to be absolutely certain I didn't have any holograms from the rotary/wool pad combo. I didn't see any holograms when viewed with my dual 500w halogen lights, but it was sort of an overcast day when I did this so pulling the car out into the sun was not an option. I really didn't want to discover anything nasty when the sun did come out later on, so I did a preemptive strike with M09. I topped it all with M26.

Thats what i plan to use.

From previous experience going from a heavy compound straight to #66 it has worked well. The heavy compound leaves the surface with a hint of marring and holograms from the rotary buffer. By applying #66 with a random orbital it removes these buffer marks and provides an excellent finish. As #66 leaves protection behind i dont have to apply a seperate wax if the customer is only paying a small amount.

M105 will finish down well enough with minimal holograms so that you could easily go straight to #66. On really poor paint it was hard to fully correct the surface in only 2 steps. However M105 cuts so strongly yet finishes down well enough that it may now be possible to perform 100% paint correct in only two steps on heavy imperfections.
