When I use super d for cleaning the tire is make sure they are cool and wet down, then I spray the tires with super d with a foaming sprayer let set about 30 seconds, dip my tire brush into the wash bucket and scrub till clean. I agree with 2hotford keep atleast the body panels wet down to prevent any king of staining, and better yet wash the tires after the body and everything is already wet.
Spay super degreaser on cool dry tires, it cleans so much better, same goes for wheel brightener.
This is something we do not recommend.
In both cases, adjacent panels should be wet as Super Degreaser can stain paint if allowed to dry or sits at a strong concentration on dry paint. Hence the reason Meguiar's suggests strongly that you wet down adjacent panels before spraying Super Degreaser.
I had to do a detail Thursday and Friday of this week. I used everthing I had in my arsenal to get his rims clean. Nothing was working. Then I remembered Tylers post about the Super Degreaser. I tried it and it worked wonders. Tyler I owe you one. Saved me on Thursday. Thanks.
Glad it worked! As you can see in the pictures, something got on that rim (was on there when she bought it). I didn't even scrub it, but Super D took some of whatever is on there off. Will have to give it a full scrub down one of these days. It has survived through everything else I have tried.
It does foam through a Megs Spray head, not as well as APC/SafeD etc though.
When i've tried Super Degreaser for this i've also found it makes the foam go brown which some has said is the rubber from the tyre (sorry tire) breaking down. I've found it excellent as you describe but don't want to prematurley age the rubber
Good question! I hope someone from meguiar's can shed some light on this matter.
My take is that it should be safe for rubber since it is recommended for use in engine bays. But that is just me, let us wait for someone else to chime in.
I don't think that it will break down the rubber. I have cleaned the tires with acetone (nail polish remover) and never had a problem. That actually works pretty good too! The brown stuff coming off the tire is called blooming. That is what you are actually trying to clean off of a new tire so it doesn't look brown.
I will have to get some foam sprayers for the Super D then too!

Thanks! Just wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing and had the right stuff.
I am curious if it would foam if using the foaming sprayer though...
I am most likely going to get some regular APC and foaming sprayers. I used the free Simple Green Bottles I got and they have a foam setting. The foam sits on the tire really well, and it seems like the foaming works better, maybe that it stays on there better. (NXT Tire Foam was the best tire cleaner!).
It's really nice to read about your experience with super degreaser, just one question though, when you sprayed on the super degreaser and brushed the surface was it sudsy was it producing suds like APC would? Just curious because when I tried super degreaser it did clean the surface but there was absolutely no suds when I brushed it with a nylon brush. May the others can share their experiences as well.
