  • M21 texture

I just recieved a sample of M21 from Meguiar's Canada (Thanks Greg) It has what appear to be solid bits in it, that no manner of shaking will make go away. When I squeeze it between my fingers, they just disappear. Could it have frozen? How will it affect the perfprmance ? I found a picture of someone holding their sample and it was smooth, not at all like mine.

I don't know the answer to this and I have not seen this with M21 nor any of our waxes so I will pass the link to this thread on to our DOT.

Well I just tried out the "chunky" sample, and it seems to have worked fine. This was just a quick detail, so my steps were

      Wash with NXT
      # 80 with 8006 on g100
      # 21 with 9006 on g100

There aren't really any swirl marks, but a few very fine scratches (used to be swirls). Those will have to wait for warmer weather in the spring.

The M21 was VERY easy to work with , and I love the deep, wet look to the car. Seems to have brought out the metallic more than either # 26 or NXT did.
      Here are some before/after shots.

        Hi Jonesey,

R&D said they couldn't really comment unless they see it for themselves. If you want to send it back to us I can arrange to have new product sent to you. It sounds like it's working okay however.

I'll second the "texture" thing...my M21 kinda has the body of (for the lack of a better word)...>loose Oatmeal

              Smells great, but I ain't tasting it...lol
Also appears to working pretty darn good. Super wet shine, super slick surface, fills minor swirls...and it LASTS!

                Hey,

That's strange. Every container I have had of #21 has been smooth and creamy in texture; slightly thicker than NXT Tech Wax.

I just received a full bottle of M-2164 from ADS and too have the chunky texture. I thought it was some type of plastic film but when I tried to get it out it just felt like liquid. Kinda strange

Seemed to work okay except for when I was pouring it in my application bottle and some "gloops" came out.

I got the sample bottle from ADS and it was lumpy. Seemed to work fine, tho.

Initially it wasn't lumpy, but now it has turned lumpy. Sometimes when I pour it onto the applicator it is almost like water and is clear too. Other times I get globs of purple liquid.

I am certain that mine has never frozen. It does seem to be working fine though. But one thing that raises a doubt is that I had some streaking after my last application which I have never had before.

Mike, I am tempted to send it to the chemists so they can provide a definitive answer. Maybe this will help clear up any doubts and answer everyone's question about this. You can post the address where to send it to, or PM me, or e-mail me.

I've seen this too. My M21 separates like crazy (same thing from 2 different bottles) and no amount of shaking can mix it up. I think the chemists need to have another look at reformulating for stability.

I've poured more than half the bottle of clear liquid out to drain it just to get to the purple M21.

On the black Corvette I recently did, I was noticing streaks as well. It might have been the moisture in the air though. I applied two coats via PC and removed with PC, but the surface had a slight dark/light look to it that wasn't pleasing to me.

Thanks for the replies, Octane Guy and Sneek. I know it's not just my imagination. Did you use the new Ultimate Bonnet for removal? If it streaks with that, then there may be an issue with the separation. Your description of the texture is exactly what mine looks like. How did you get rid of the streaks? There sure weren't any in the pictures you took. The finish was absolutely flawless!

I don't really think cold weather is an issue. I used it in the winter with no problem. It may take a little bit longer to dry, maybe 20 minutes, but it should wipe off very easily. I store my products either in a heated garage or in the kitchen pantry. Less and less of my kitchen pantry is used to store food LOL!

I wiped and wiped and wiped and wiped. I noticed that if I did long strokes from one end of the hood to the opposite end(Windshield)that I could push the streaks around. It was almost like polishing with #7. So I ended up just trying to make the streaks uniform. It could only be seen on the hood of the Vette.

Yes, I used the Ultimate Bonnet but still had issues, so I tried to wipe the streaks by hand.
