Rave - Even Coat Applicator

For graduation, my parents bought me a new 2005 Toyota Camry, black. You can bet I was thrilled, but never knew how much maintenance was required to keep a black car looking slick.

The day after purchase, I went to a three day music festival on a farm (bonnaroo), and the finish was BOMBARDED with anything you can imagine.

As soon as I got home, I researched all sorts of car products to restore the finish to how it was... three days ago. Meguiars provided the most comprehensive guide to any car appearance problem. This forum has shared a wealth of knowlege to me, and I am very greatful.

Since then, I have become Car Crazy! I now get "the look" from neighbors when I go outside to give my car a quick detail or wax.

And I am somewhat embarrassed by this. I needed something that would keep my car looking great while minimizing the time I spend outside detailing my car.

So, I recently read a review of Meguiar's Even Coat Applicator on these forums, then watched the video provided by Meguiars Online (!GREAT IDEA GUYS!) that showed how easy it was to apply wax. So right after work I went out and got it.




Tested it out on the hood, right in front of the store. I was floored. I covered the hood in a minute. Thats several times faster than I could with a regular applicator pad! Followed up with a Meguiar's Microfiber cloth, and I was thrilled. I had the hood done in two shakes of a lamb's tail! (be aware that I normally allow the wax to sit longer).

This isn't just a rave for Meguiar's Even Coat Applicator, but a rave for Meguiar's great customer care, quality, and information. My camry thanks you too!

also... be careful when you wash them, as a few people have had them unstitch after the first wash.

Oh, absolutely sir! But actually, I hear they ship with better thread now.

I have noticed some weird things going on with the Camry paint.

For example, right after Bonnaroo I noticed two rather large (brown colored) "scratches" on the rear bumper. I washed, scratch-x'ed, and waxed, and nothing seemed to help. I figured I would just not tell my parents about what happened. A week later, it was gone! I have no clue what happened!

Right now I am having trouble removing a defect on the left passenger door. It looks like a scratch, but when I run my hand across it (even the back of my nail), there is no sign that it is on the surface. I tried scratch x multiple times, but it has not come out. Guess the layer underneath the clearcoat had a defect.

But on a better note, the area around that defect is free of swirls! Scratch-X is a great product.

Should my rechargeable batteries come in for my camera, I will take a picture of the defect this weekend.

i unforntaly am one of those people. i washed it the first time and the stiching came apart. i'm going to still use it because it's not ruined, just a little upset it would come apart that easy.

Didn't I read somewhere on here that it is now not recommended to put these in the washing machine? I too have these and I never washed them in the machine. I normally use them and keep them in a zip lock baggy marking on the bag the product that it was used for. When it becomes to soiled, I get a pail of luke warm water, put some Tide in it, throw the applicators in and soak for 30 minutes and give them a squeeze here and there during the soaking stage. Then, I rinse them under the fausset, wring them out good and air dry.

Even if the stitching comes apart, you really get good bang for your buck when it comes to these applicators. At autozone it around $3.50 for two applicators. A steal in my eyes.

BTW, the even coat applicator and the quick detail pad seem closely related, though i have never used the QD pad. Does the QD pad not have the stitching problem?

Not sure, but I am highly intrigued by the quick detail pad. It might be nice to see a video demonstration of the product on meguiar's website (much like they did with the even coat applicator) before I make my buying decision.

I also like these applicators..very even coats...but my problem is the same as LiquidBlack..the stiching came apart..but I did not machine wash it..,it started to come apart as I was using it...

I am going to try to re-sew it as I really like them...

I found if you use a nitrile glove while waxing ..chances are it will never slip out of your hand ...also using the gloves prevent any hand marks from sweat or just oils on hand to the paint while working on the vechicle..

Very nice product...I also bought the body brush ..which is very nice....
