I did a little comparison of NXT Generation All Metal Polysh and Gold Class All Metal Restorer. After I did the comparison I looked over Meguiars Estore and seems they must have discontinued the Gold Class All Metal Restorer. So here is the little test anyway.
I found an old copper bottom pot that I never use with more years of tarnish than I am old and thought I would have a little "fun". I don't have enough things to polish on my truck so this was the next best thing.
Here is the subject:
Time Spent:
30-40 min total
The Process:
I taped the pot off into 3 sections. Then I used some old cut up cotton shirts for application and a final buff. I made sure I used the same material(shirt) for application and removal to give the products a fair shot.
First Impressions:
First thing I notice, the NXT seemed to "glide" over the surface, making the application much easier. The NXT also worked much faster in bringing back the shine. The paste stayed on the surface of the shirt allowing for a very good "polishing to product ratio".
The All Metal Restorer didn't glide over the surface nearly as well and required a little more effort to get the work done. I also used more product with the All Metal Restorer most seemed to soak into the rag and didn't offer the "polishing to product ratio" NXT did.
Here here are the results:
Final Thoughts:
After this test I realized how well the NXT Generation All Metal Polysh really works. Prior to the test I preferred the liquid type metal polishes, now that I have worked them side by side the paste is much more user friendly.
The results are not perfect but its a very big improvement on both sides. Now, its hard to see in the photos but the NXT did in fact polish the copper better than the Gold Class. I also used less effort and less product to get the better results.
I ran water across the bottom of the pot but saw no difference in the ability to bead water. But I can feel the difference, the NXT has a nice slick feel to it, where you run you finger over the Gold Class it tends to drag on the surface.
Even though it appears as Gold Class All Metal Restorer is no longer available it was still an interesting test with NXT Metal Polysh the clear winner.
