08 Prevost Star Coach, tree scrubs!!

I drive for an artist who has an 08 prevost bus. We had another driver take the bus to another location for us one weekend. I am the only driver. The other driver got the side of the bus into some tree limbs leaving tree limb marks down one side of the bus. It looks like it only got into the clear coat lightly, however it still sticks out like a sore thumb. I've seen other buses who had thier bus waxed and it always left swirl marks all the way down the side of the bus. Is there something I can do or use to wax without leaving swirls. Remember, its an 900K$ bus. HELP!!!

Hi, and welcome to MOL.

We've moved this thread out of the "Customer Service Hotline" section and into the "Marine & RV" section as it is a more appropriate area for this discussion and you'll get more traffic/response here.

Now then.... how bad are the scratches in the side of this rig? Deep enough to feel them with your fingernail or just very unsightly? If you can actually feel them then they're actually quite deep and full removal is going to be virtually impossible. The other thing you need to determine, and a call to Prevost will answer this for you, is whether you're dealing with a gel coat or paint - it makes a big difference in product selection.

Either way, you're going to have to buff out these scratches with a power tool like our G110v2 D/A (or similar) buffer. If it's painted then something like Ultimate Compound should do the trick (provided you can not feel the scratches, remember!), but if it's a gel coat you'll need to move to M67 One Step Compound from our Marine & RV lineup.

No matter what the surface and what product is used to remove the defects you will need to wax when finished. Any issues you've witnessed on other rigs with swirls following the waxing process is down to improper technique on the part of whomever waxed those. Using a tool like the one mentioned above it is extremely easy to lay down a very thin and uniform coat of wax that, once dry, will wipe off with little effort and should leave zero swirls, streaks, etc.
